There is going to a minute of silence today and i just want to say
Pray for the people in France, pray for the people on Beruit, pray for the people in Baghdad, and pray for the people at south korea
I love all the prayers going out not just to the families of victims of Paris and Beirut, but also to Muslims who are as innocent as you or me. History shows that when a small group does stupid shit, their whole race/country/ethnicity/religion get blamed and it destroys oppurtutnities and innovations for them for at least a couple of decades. But nope, not this time. IDK what ISIS's plan is or if they even have one, but if they're hoping to create discord and hatred in this world, they messed up real good. We aren't going to let this attack turn us on innocent people. Nor will this attack weaken this world to became a victim to terror. Attack a city, unite a world, fuckers.
Unrecognised Heroes
"We've all seen video of the France vs. Germany soccer game when the sound of an explosion can be heard causing the players to look at each other in curiosity and confusion. That explosion took place OUTSIDE the Stade de France. It was supposed to take place INSIDE and potentially kill hundreds of people including French President Francois Hollande. But it didn't.
It didn't because a security guard detected the bomber's vest and confronted him. The bomber then detonated his vest OUTSIDE the stadium. Everyone INSIDE was safe.
That security guard who saved so many hundreds, if not thousands of people, including the President of France himself, has been completely ignored and only his first name has been reported only a handful of times.
His name is Zouheir. He is a Muslim.”
Thank you Zouheir for doing your job and saving numerous lives!!
Letter from Beruit - it's never just another explosion
People believe that it must have become second nature for us Lebanese to hear of attacks. They assume that living in a country teetering on the edge of chaos means being ready for whatever such chaos throws our way. But it's never the case. It wasn't 'just a bomb' this time, just as it is never 'just a bomb'. The death toll kept rising, and the pictures in the media kept flowing: the burned bodies; the crying widows; the weeping infants; the hospitalised children; the destroyed buildings; the streets turned to rubble. It was horror all around; a type of horror that is all too familiar and yet somehow distant. Amid the devastation of it all, the story of Adel Termos emerged: a man in his 30s who had tackled the second suicide bomber, preventing him from accessing the mosque he was targeting, and saving hundreds of lives in the process. Three days after November 12, Borj el-Barajneh is picking up the pieces of what once was. The country is slowly but surely rebounding. The sense of unity this time around is palpable. I do not hear the kind of talk that used to be so commonplace: dissecting the politics of each attack. No, this time the talk is about the people, the victims, the sense of despair we all feel at having to go through this, again and again. This was not 'just a bomb'.
