This is and has been my reality for the past days (and those to come). Walking around the house with a backpack, flashlight and a whistle around my neck. In case things get bad and staying at a strategic point is no longer an option, then run.
This is not exactly what I had imagined my life as an adult to be. Loosing my job, sleepless nights, worrying about the safety of my family and the uncertainty of whether we will soon be one of those who will no longer have a home to return to after having to abandon the structure if the next earthquake turns out to be "the big one" (even though we've already had two 6.0s in a lapse of 5 days with THOUSANDS of replicas that don't seem to get lower from 3.5 and 4.8).
Thankfully my house was built STRONG and has not received any damage or even cracks. But many others have not been as "fortunate" and have had to abandon their homes with everything in it at the sight of the first major crack they find. And you hear those on a daily basis (almost all of my neighbors have fled town on to others in the North where the esrthquakes arent felt as strong as the South. Others left for the US to stay with family members there).
The "experts" say that its better that the fault remains as active as it is to "release all that energy until it calms down and goes away on its own." WHEN exactly will that be? We dont know.
In the meantime I'll keep coming here when I have a bit of time. Check out the latest on BTS to get distracted for a bit from all the chaos...
So if anyone's out there going through the same situation. I hope you will remain safe and sound. Fighting! 💜
