Underrated pre-asoiaf caracter: Alyssa Velaryon, Queen consort to Aenys I Targaryen, mother of Rhaena, Aegon, Viserys,Jaehaerys, Alysanne and Vaelle Targaryen. After Aenys’ death and the ursupation of the throne by his half-brother Maegor, she became “a prisoner in everything but name” of Dowager Queen Visenya. In the confusion surrounding Visenya’s death a couple of years later, she escaped Dragonstone with Jaehaerys and Alysanne - and stealing Visenya’s valyrian sword, Dark Sister. Her two eldest sons dead, and Rhaena being one of of Maegor’s Black brides, she conspired to put her only surviving son, Jaehaerys, on the throne. One of her first supporters was Rogar Baratheon, who was to become her second husband, and by whom she had Boremund and Jocelyn Baratheon.

Also Aegon: *defies tradition to marry Rhaenys out of love, is completely devoted to her, gives her an army to conquer Storms End, sends her to conquer Dorne, trusts her to run the realm, gives her equal power, names a hill after her, spends ten nights with her for one night with his other wife, ignores false rumors about her infidelity, doesn't even get jealous, is hundred percent supportive, names their son Aenys (literally Aegon + Rhaenys), dotes over their son, burns every building in Dorne at least thrice after her death, wages a war against them for years, builds a Sept of Rememberence for her before even thinking to build a better place for himself, devotes his life to their son, always keeps him by his side, takes him on tours with him, teaches him about ruling, fights for his right to the Iron Throne, puts his pride aside and accepts peace so that Rhaenys can have a peaceful death, dotes on his grandchildren by her, cries when he holds his infant granddaughter who is named after his wife because she looks so much like his Rhaenys*
