Funny story (that I'll definitely having in the bio for the fic I'm talking about). So a few days ago I was trying to figure out what to do for Day Seven for Sanvers Week (the Soulmate AU) and I came up with this awesome plot idea that was both super sweet and kinda angsty in like the perfect way that would have been reeaally good... Only to realize that the story I'd came up with was Lucy x Vasquez and it's supposed to be for Sanvers Week... I failed miserably. Lol. (So guess what pairing is gonna have a couple scenes in Saturday's fic cause I refused to drop that storyline?)
Penelope "Pennie" Karity Mays
This November I will be participating in NaNoWriMo, today I am working on some pre-writing for Try Not To Die. Here is the character sheet for Pennie, one of my two main characters.
Age: 22 Height: 5′ 6″, 133lbs Eye color: Clear blue Physical appearance: Pennie is an athletic woman; professional cheerleading and horseback riding, and it shows. She has long, lean legs and a six-pack. Other than looking athletic, Pennie is a beautiful woman. She comes from a long line of southern women and carries herself as such. She is always wearing makeup and taking care of her hair and skin, and yet her beauty looks effortless. She has naturally clear skin, bright eyes, and hair that seems to settle into gorgeous beach waves on its own. Her hair is naturally blonde, a lighter blonde but not quite the nearly see-through blonde of her childhood. She is also naturally tan from all of the time she spends outside. Strange or unique physical attributes: Pennie has a scar on her right leg from where she snapped it in half and out of the skin in middle school, riding a horse. Favorite clothing style/outfit: Pennie is very ‘in style’. She wears skinny jeans, boots, and sweaters in the winter with a thick dark grey parka-type coat. In the summer she wears dresses with converse or short boots. Where does he or she live? What is it like there? Pennie lives in an apartment in Boulder, CO outside of her school (University of Colorado, Boulder). She enjoys being a little far from school because it provides quiet that she enjoys. It isn’t ‘walkable’ per se, but she has no trouble driving everywhere. It is a new looking apartment, very modern, that her parents pay for while she goes to school. There are two bedrooms, one for her to sleep in and one that serves as a recording room for her makeup work. It looks like it is out of IKEA, and is a very peaceful abode for her. She also loves hosting and has friends over all of the time. Defining gestures/movements (i.e., curling his or her lip when he or she speaks, always keeping his or her eyes on the ground, etc.): Pennie twirls her hair a lot without noticing it, especially when she is thinking. She maintains eye contact when she talks, and always looks happy (pulled from her training in cheerleading). She doesn’t really have any anxious ticks because she isn’t an anxious person. Things about his or her appearance he or she would most like to change: Pennie is very confident, but she doesn’t have a unique look and wishes that she had a tattoo or unique hairstyle or something. Speaking style (fast, talkative, monotone, etc.): Pennie speaks like a good southern girl- sweet, as if her words themselves twinkle. She gets a deep accent when she is upset. Pet peeves: Unsweet tea and people who aren’t southern polite and welcoming. Fondest memory: The family reunion her first year in college, it was a wonderful time with all of her brothers. It is when she finds out that her SIL Susana was pregnant with her and Jamie’s first son. Hobbies/interests: She enjoys cheerleading, horseback riding, doing makeup, shopping, and spending time with her friends. In addition, she is religious and is known to sit down and read the bible and listen to pod-casts from the church she grew up with. Finally, she likes to read Forbes and BusinessWeek. Special skills/abilities: Pennie is very good at makeup, with a nice 2.6 million followers on Instagram, and is especially business savvy. Most of what she does on her Instagram, however, is show people how to home make (mostly) vegan body/face/etc products. Insecurities: Pennie feels very plain and boring. Quirks/eccentricities: Pennie is obsessed with country music and pop music, and is known to line dance when she is really drunk. She’s also known to give a surprisingly excited rant about business if you give her the chance. Temperament (easygoing, easily angered, etc.): Friendly and kind, with a sassy turn when she feels insulted. Negative traits: She judges people on their outside appearance. She is 22, but she has a hard time being independent of her family in front of them, even though she disagrees with their (specifically the Mays) antiquated opinions. Things that upset him or her: She can’t stand animals being hurt, she doesn’t like people bullying her friends or family, and doesn’t like bugs of any sort. Things that embarrass him or her: With few exceptions, Pennie dresses very modestly, and is very embarrassed when any part of her appearance doesn’t feel comfortable. This character is highly opinionated about: Animal rights. She only purchases food for her home from farms that are humane, and only uses vegan products for makeup and other uses. Also, feminism (inclusive feminism, which means LGBTQ+ and BLM), though she doesn’t share this with her father. Any phobias? Pennie does not have any phobias. Things that make him or her happy: A home cooked meal, a perfectly put together outfit, a nice spa night, and dinner with loved ones. Family (describe): Pennie is the youngest of 5 children, all boys. -Jamison “Jamie” Gerald Mays, M 30 --Married to Susana (F, 28) with two children Mary (F, 3), Jamison “JImmy” (M, 2) and another on the way -Jackson “Jack” Harrold Mays, M 28 --Married to MaryAnne (F, 27) with twins Marigold “Mary” and Elisabeth “Lizzie” (F, 2) -Joeseph “Joe” Charlie Mays, M 25 --Closeted gay man, only Pennie and Dustin know that his ‘roommate’ Michael Macalister is his boyfriend (would be married if Mays family knew) -Dustin Samuel Mays, M 24 --Recently single, seemingly uninterested in settling down Her parents are Jamison Franklin Mays (M 58) and Sarea Lee Karity-Mays Nee Karity (F 54). The Mays family is a very rich Texas family known for their wildly successful corporate law firm. The Karity family is a farming family, and her mother is the only child. Because of this, despite Jamison working inside of Houston, the family grew up on the main farm/horse ranch. All kids were sent to a part-time boarding school, overnight from Monday-Friday, in Houston that was religious. The Mays are a close family, they have family reunions every year. The Karity family is much smaller, but it is nearly entirely women (they all kept their name) and very strong women at that. Deepest, darkest secret: Pennie was raped by her high school mathematics teacher in her senior year. The reason he or she kept this secret for so long: She believes it is her fault and feels deep shame for it. It is how she lost her virginity and had previously planned to wait until marriage. Additionally, she shared (part) of it with her older brother Jamie, and he shamed her for it. Other people’s opinions of this character (What do people like about this character? What do they dislike about this character?): People like that Pennie is so kind and strong, though many judge her for her father’s actions and that of the Mays family. Also, because of her sweet tone and overly polite demeanor, she can come off as insincere. She’s also very “basic” and many consider her vain. Favorite bands/songs/type of music: Pennie loves country music, Carrie Underwood is her number one favorite singer and she tends to love female artists. She also enjoys pop music, though she veers away from dubstep or otherwise computer type music. Favorite movies: Old romance: Dirty Dancing, Grease, Pretty Woman, etc. Favorite TV shows: The Bachelorette, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, etc. Favorite books: Anything Nicholas Sparks Favorite foods: Chicken fried steak, bbq, and smoothies Favorite sports/sports teams: She does not like sports Political views: Pennie is fiscally conservative and socially liberal Religion/philosophy of life: Pennie is Christian, and doesn’t believe it interferes with her politics in the slightest. Physical health: Pennie is very healthy, though she is diabetic, it is something that she maintains with healthy diet and exercise. Dream vacation: Pennie has traveled a lot but has never been to the Greece beaches and would love to go there. Description of his or her house: Her apartment is modern and clean, IKEA meets Pinterest. There are many pictures of her friends and family and also plenty of art. It is very clean, as any good southern girl’s home should be. Description of his or her bedroom: Her bedroom is crisp and fresh, and her closet is large. Any pets? Pennie has a small corgi that is her diabetic alert dog (once upon a time her diabetes was far from under control). His name is Sweetums and he is white with light brown spots. Best thing that has ever happened to this character: Pennie values her education more than anything else. Going to school away from her family allowed her to develop opinions separate from her parent’s opinions. Worst thing that has ever happened to this character: Pennie was raped by her high school mathematics teacher in her senior year. She decided to share this information with her oldest brother, and he shamed her for it. Superstitions: Pennie is religious and doesn’t believe in sex until marriage. Three words to describe this character: Bright, kind, shamed If a song played every time this character walked into the room, what song would it be? All American Girl, Carrie Underwood
Name: Roderick Schroeder. Also known as Roddy.
Race: Dreitish. From the country of Dreitan, currently in a bitter war with Agene.
Setting: A feminine pretty boy with a bad temperament. From a minor noble family, and used to getting his way. A third year student at the Academy, and rather feared by his peers. A bit of a delinquent, and makes everyone around him uncomfortable.
Affiliation: A citizen of Dreitan, a student of the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth, and the son of a minor wealthy family.
Occupation: A student at the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth. A third year student, unpopular and rather feared. A loner, who keeps to himself and only interacts with others to bully them.
Gender: Male.
Age: 15
Birth date: February 21
Height: 5’3
Weight: 102 lbs.
Build: Slender, bony, and almost feminine, with long legs, a graceful build, and very little padding.
Skin tone: Petal pale and peachy. Perfectly smooth.
Hair: Upper back length and medium brown, usually pulled back into a low ponytail with carefully combed bangs.
Eyes: Hazel green, narrowed, and sharp at the corners. Long, thick lashes, and perpetually with a bit of a squint.
Distinguishing Features: Sharp, heart shaped face, long lashes, feminine build, pretty boy looks, ponytail.
Dress: The typical uniform of his school, which consists of a white dress shirt, grey vest, grey shorts, and a red bow. When choosing his own outfits, Roderick likes stylish, fashionable clothes, bright colors, and luxurious fabrics. He’s very fond of fashion, and tries to keep up with the latest trends, choosing his outfits more for looks than function. His personal style is rather feminine, and he tends to choose almost girly clothes.
Proficiencies: Roderick, like all Dreitish children, studied under his father for six years in his childhood. The trade he learned was map making, and aside from that, he’s had the very typical education of a few hired tutors. He’s particularly good at fencing and swordfighting, and is fond of athletics in general. He’s very strong for his size, thanks to years of personal training and exercise.
Special Abilities/Strengths: Roderick is determined, quick thinking, and strong willed. He’s an aggressive sort of person who’s willing to go after what he wants, and is extremely difficult to pick on or push around. He’s a natural problem solver, and very good at getting his way.
Weaknesses: Roderick is quick tempered and easily angered. He’s prone to violence and lashing out, and tends to pick on anyone who can’t stand up to him. Despite his feminine looks, he’s strong for his age, and more than willing to use that strength to force other kids to do what he wants. While, generally, he’s a solitary sort of person, when he does interact with others, it rarely ends well. He’s not particularly book smart, and has a rather bad memory when it comes to facts.
History: The only son of a minorly wealthy family, Roderick had a relatively normal upbringing. His childhood was mostly impacted by the death of his mother when he was young, although growing up with three sisters did something to lessen that blow. While learning his father’s trade, he soon picked up the hobby of fencing, developing a love for the outdoors and training his body. His father was a strict, yet loving man, who may have spoiled his son’s interests a little more than was entirely necessary.
Home: A large, fancy manor in the outskirts of the city, where he lives with his father and three sisters. Currently lives in a dorm at the Academy with another boy.
Personality: Roderick is a hot tempered, strong willed boy with a passion for the outdoors. He’s something of a bully, mostly because of how easy it is for him to pick on the weak. He’s passionate and quick to anger, with a violent temper and severe anger issues. He’s prone to lashing out at students and adults alike, with a heated sort of violence that fades as quickly as it comes. He’s a bit dim, with a blunt personality, little tact, and even less concern for the feelings of others.
Interests: Roderick likes exercise, being outside, and looking his best. He dislikes bad hair days, long school hours, and bad weather. His hobbies are fencing and cross country running.
Miscellaneous: He’s the oldest of four. All three of his siblings are girls. His favorite food is mixed fruit. He takes great pride in his appearance, and works hard to train his body. He enjoys looking feminine, and is careful to maintain his hair and good looks. He’s been in numerous fist fights. The only people he’s kind to are his younger sisters.
Connotative description: An aggressive pretty boy with a bad personality and a short temper.
Name: Bren Keller
Race: Dreitish. From the country of Dreitan, currently in a bitter war with Agene.
Setting: An intelligent and reserved boy from a wealthy home in the countryside. Rather plain, but extremely bright, with a taste for absorbing as much information as possible. Easily picked on, and frequently a target of more physical boy in his year.
Affiliation: A citizen of Dreitan, a student of the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth, and a son of a wealthy family from the countryside.
Occupation: A student at the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth. A third year student, easily picked on and with few friends.
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Birth date: August 18
Height: 5’3
Weight: 105 lbs
Build: Tall and slender, with little muscle or body fat to speak of. Long limbed and a bit gangly.
Skin tone: A rather grey pale, light from spending too much time in darkened indoor rooms.
Hair: Sleek and black, parted to his right and covering one eye. Unkempt and frequently left uncombed.
Eyes: Medium brown, sloping up at the corners and rather dull. Frequently pink around the edges.
Distinguishing Features: Tall figure, long limbs, unusually light skin, hair covering eye, scar on his midsection from an accident when he was little, large, long fingered hands.
Dress: The typical uniform of his school, which consists of a white dress shirt, grey vest, grey shorts, and a red bow. On his own, Bren is a rather sloppy dressed, paying little attention to the state of his attire. He prefers plain, functional outfits, and gravitates towards neutral colors and comfortable fabrics. He pays little attention to fashion, and usually dresses like someone of much lower status than he really is.
Proficiencies: Bren is an extremely intelligent boy. He’s had a constant stream of tutors from a young age, and is well educated in every subject from astronomy to geology. He does very well in school, and always exceeds in his classes. Like all Dreitish children, he’s trained in his father’s profession, which in his case is bookkeeping, and spent six years studying it.
Special Abilities/Strengths: Bren is book smart and very good at retaining information. He can study on his own easily, and would have little need for teacher or organized classes. He’s a reclusive, independent sort, and is very good at keeping himself occupied.
Weaknesses: Bren is, in most other respects, a disaster. He’s socially awkward, unsure of himself, weak-willed, and easy to bully. He frequently forgets to take care of himself properly, and can go days without eating more than snacks if left on his own. He’s absolutely terrible at standing up for himself, and is easily pushed around by anyone stronger. He’s bad at keeping himself properly groomed, even, and go ages without so much as remembering to change his clothes.
History: The son of a wealthy family, Bren had a rather unusual childhood. His father was fond of the idea of children learning, and so, long before he would ever have to attend proper schooling, Bren had a long supply of tutors, and full access to a vast library. From a young age, he had a passion for learning and absorbing information, and spent long days holed up in his family’s library, taking in whatever knowledge he could find. Unfortunately, Bren’s social education suffered horribly as a result, and he grew up reclusive and shy, unwilling to go out and make friends.
Home: A large manor in the countryside, with a massive library at his disposal. Currently lives in the Academy, in a plain room with another boy.
Personality: Bren is reclusive and plain, disliking social interaction and preferring to spend time on his own. He’s interested only in learning, and will neglect even self care in favor of long hours spent reading. He’s socially awkward and easy to bully, weak willed and easily pushed around. He’s unremarkable in everything except intelligence and height, and exists in a self created bubble of reading and isolation. He’s a bit spacey, and prone to losing track of time. He’s particularly attached to his childhood home, and despises the idea of being forced away to fight a war.
Interests: Bren likes reading, libraries, and time to himself. He dislikes physical activity, bullies, and tight schedules. His hobbies are reading and taking in information.
Miscellaneous: He had an accident when he was little that required stitches along his midsection. He has the scars to this day. His favorite food is crackers and milk. He’s very prone to papercuts. He’s fallen asleep in his library more times than he can count. He hit a massive growth spurt at age nine, and has been taller than his peers ever since. He’s slightly afraid of the outdoors and leaving home.
Connotative description: A book smart and socially awkward boy with a weak personality and a penchant for sticking to what’s safe.
Name: Xander Janson
Race: Dreitish. From the country of Dreitan, currently in a bitter war with Agene.
Setting: A rich boy from a prolific family, sent to a rural school with a good reputation for his mandatory education. A 2nd year student at the academy, and extremely popular with his peers. The pinnacle of what a Dreitish boy is supposed to be and act like, if a bit spoiled.
Affiliation: A citizen of Dreitan, a student of the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth, and a son of a rather wealthy family.
Occupation: A student at the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth. A second year student, greatly looking forward to his future time in the military. Loved by his peers and highly popular.
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Birth date: November 13
Height: 4’11
Weight: 98 lbs.
Build: Small and soft, with a bit of baby fat left and few sharp edges. Petite and still rather childish.
Skin tone: Soft peachy pink, with ruddy cheeks.
Hair: Tawny dark blonde, cut short along the sides and with the middle styled up in a whirl. Soft and thick, with a natural curl.
Eyes: Dark, greyish brown. Wide, and narrowed at the corners. Naturally slightly turned up, with thick lashes.
Distinguishing Features: Small for his age, upturned nose, overly styled hair, smug grin.
Dress: The typical uniform of his school, which consists of a white dress shirt, grey vest, grey shorts, and a red bow. When it comes to the outfits he chooses for himself, Xander prefers expensive fabrics, designer brands, and rich colors. He dresses like the nobility he is, and takes great pride in his appearance and dress.
Proficiencies: As is typical of a Dreitish child his age, Xander is skilled in his family’s trade, which in his case, is business. He studied under his father for six years as a child, and knows the basics of managing his family’s profession. As a student, he’s being trained in everything from fencing to world history, and is relatively well rounded for a boy his age.
Special Abilities/Strengths: Xander is naturally charismatic and easy to get along with. Despite being rather arrogant, he draws people to him and commands a sort of obedience from his peers. He’s a classically popular child, and has the self confidence to scarcely falter, even in the worst of situations.
Weaknesses: Xander is small for his age and rather physically weak. He’s a bit full of himself, and extremely overconfident, with a self assured attitude that isolates him from any close friends. He may be popular, but few people feel close to him, and he’s dense enough to not understand the difference between the two. He’s spoiled, and expects things to always go his way, even from people who have no reason to cater to him.
History: Xander is a Dreitish noble born to a wealthy family. He’s from a family of businessmen, and was spoiled excessively from early childhood, doted on by parents and servants. He grew up learning his father’s trade and being trained to take on the family business. A spoiled, cruel child who sees little worth in other people, or anything that doesn’t directly satisfy him. Currently, as is normal for a Dreitish boy, he’s serving his four years of mandatory secondary education at the Boys’ Academy of Prepared youth. He’s a second year student, and one of the most popular boys around.
Home: Xander’s home is his family mansion, which has been passed down from generation to generation for years. He fully expects to inherit the place, and considers his small, yet still rather lavish, home at the Academy to be merely a temporary place of living.
Personality: Xander is childish and spoiled, used to getting whatever he wants when he wants it. He’s prejudiced, particularly against poor people and Ageneiens, and a bit of a bully when it comes to those he can easily look down on. He’s extremely naive, and has absolutely no knowledge as to how the real world works. He’s selfish and a bit cruel, and honestly only thinks of his own needs and wants. He has a naturally charismatic personality, and tends to draw other children in just by being himself. His confidence is infectious, and most people find it hard to dislike him.
Interests: Xander likes swordfighting, horseback riding, and hunting, all hobbies typical of Dreitish nobility, and dislikes mathematics, commoners, being told what to do, and things not going his way.
Miscellaneous: His favorite food is mince pie. He likes the autumn season because of hunting, good food, and the fashion. He has a pet hunting dog at home that he treasures. His father is his idol, both for being an excellent businessman, and the most impressive person he knows. He’s never had a best friend. He spends a ridiculous amount of time styling his hair.
Connotative Description: A spoiled yet popular rich boy with a bad attitude and a tendency to bully. A rather antagonistic character who still manages to be sympathetic and childishly cute.
Name: Vida Michel. Also known as Traitor, Viddy, and Soldier.
Race: Agenien. From the country neighboring and at war with Dreitan.
Setting: A child soldier from Agene, captured two years ago and sent to the academy as a prisoner of war. Kept under careful scrutiny by teachers, even the other boys can tell that something is off about Vida, leaving him a veritable outcast in an already tense situation.
Affiliation: Formerly a soldier of Agene, and still halfway loyal to their doctrine. Currently a prisoner of Dreitan, kept in a boys’ school to keep him under control and careful watch.
Occupation: Child Soldier. Recruited into the Agenien army at a young age and captured as a prisoner of war at age 12. Permanently in the mindset of being at war, and convinced being a soldier is his only worth.
Gender: Male.
Age: 14, but looks older thanks to his dead, empty eyes and somber expression.
Birth date: Unknown. Vida remembers little about his history outside of the war, thanks to his rough time in combat and the brainwashing typical of Agene.
Height: 5’4
Weight: 110 lbs.
Build: Scrawny and small, with wiry muscle and a narrow frame.
Skin tone: Almost unnaturally pale. Slightly pink.
Hair: Dark, shaggy red, cut in a messy shape slightly above his ears. Wavy and thick, with loose, hard to tame curls and a permanent whirl to one side.
Eyes: Wide, dark grey and unnervingly empty. Void of anything resembling life, and framed by prominent dark circles.
Distinguishing Features: Heavily scarred from battle, with marks ranging from tiny nicks on his fingers to deep, pink cuts along his torso and arms. One very noticeable scar on his right cheek.
Dress: The typical uniform of his school, which consists of a white dress shirt, grey vest, grey shorts, and a red bow. On his own, Vida prefers clothes that look more like military uniforms, featuring dull, drab colors, conservative cuts, and rough fabrics.
Proficiencies: Vida is skilled with guns and knives, as he was taught in the Agenien army. He’s strong for a boy his size, and is trained in basic combat and war strategy.
Special Abilities/Strengths: Vida is a logical thinker, works well under pressure, and is athletically gifted for a boy his size. He’s determined, and good at following orders, even ones that may put his own safety at risk.
Weaknesses: Vida is a social disaster, unable to manage even the basics of proper interpersonal interaction. He’s awkwards, overly stiff, nervous, paranoid, and unable to function without someone giving him orders. He has no sense of what constitutes appropriate behavior, and is an easy target for bullying and manipulation. He’s almost entirely illiterate, and has had little to no schooling that he can remember.
History: Vida remembers little before the army. He was drafted into the Agenien military at a young age and thoroughly trained (brainwashed) to remember nothing but what he needed for combat. He served in the army for close to seven years, before being captured by Dreitan as a prisoner of war. Currently, to make sure that someone keeps a close eye on him, he has been transferred to the Boy’s Academy of Prepared Youth, where he poses as a student instead of a prisoner.
Home: The closest thing Vida has to home is the Academy. He had had no stable place of residence before that, and considers it, as he did every place he was transferred to, where he belongs until told otherwise.
Personality: Vida is a nervous wreck. His time in the army has scarred him horribly, and he’s unable to function in the slightest without the same structure and commands as he’s used to. He’ll follow any orders given by “authority”, and has no sense of personal morals or motivation. He does whatever he’s told, and nothing more. Vida considers himself to be worthless if not in combat, and suffered from persistent delusions and self hate. His image of himself is severely disturbed, and his mental weakness makes him an easy target for bullying and manipulation. He’s not very in tune with reality, and tends to think in ways completely detached from those of any normal person. He’s entirely desensitized to violence, and has no issues harming anyone he’s ordered to.
Interests: Vida likes war, orders, and being useful, and dislikes socializing, not having anything to do, and unclear commands. His only hobby is being a soldier, and he hasn’t the slightest idea what to do when left alone.
Miscellaneous: He compares himself to corpse, and has delusions of being rotten and filled with bugs. He self harms when bored or mad at himself, and a good portion of his scars are self inflicted. Anything that sounds like gunshot sends him into a panic. He has no comprehension of good, evil, or why someone would want to give him orders.
Connotative description: Disturbed soldier boy with more issues than some newspapers. Easily swayed, and an overall unstable character.
Name: Gilbert Maroz
Race: Dreitish. Half Agenien. From the country of Dreitan, currently in a bitter war with Agene.
Setting: A sly and crafty boy who seems to know more than he should. Strange, reclusive, and unusually intelligent, he has few friends and even fewer enemies. The eldest son of a low ranking noble family, and generally isolated from the world around him.
Affiliation: A citizen of Dreitan, a student of the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth, and the eldest son of a minor noble family.
Occupation: A student at the Boys’ Academy of Prepared Youth. A second year student, with few friends and a reputation of being strange.
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Birth date: January 15
Height: 5’1
Weight: 100 lbs
Build: Slender and long limbed. Gangly and a bit awkward.
Skin tone: Peachy and moderately pale.
Hair: Shoulder length, light reddish-brown. Parted to his right, with long bangs and tucked behind his left ear. Moderately thick, and sleek in texture.
Eyes: Bright cinnamon brown, sharp and slanted, with a permanent twinkle that make it seem like he’s knows something he shouldn’t. Long lashes and sharp, angled brows.
Distinguishing Features: Long limbs, slender build, tucked back hair, quiet voice, sharp, bright eyes.
Dress: The typical uniform of his school, which consists of a white dress shirt, grey vest, grey shorts, and a red bow. When choosing his own outfits, Gilbert likes plain styles, rich colors, and sturdy, practical fabrics. He doesn’t pay much attention to fashion, and prefers practical clothing to trendy styles. His favorite color is red, and he’ll often indulge in rich, vibrant shades of it when picking his clothing.
Proficiencies: Gilbert is a remarkably sharp and intelligent boy. He rarely follows along with set lesson plans, but researches a variety of complex topics on his own. He’s had a number of tutors in his youth, but has learned more from his own teachings that any professional help. Like all Dreitish children, he studied under his father for six years, and has learned his family’s trade during that time.
Special Abilities/Strengths: Gilbert is amazingly intelligent, and smarter than most adults he’s known. He’s resourceful, creative and tricky beyond measure. He’s extremely independent, and can practically manage living on his own at the age of thirteen. He’s very good at taking care of himself, and only relies on his family for financial matters. He tends to know things that he shouldn’t, and is always the first to pick up a new bit of information.
Weaknesses: Gibert is solitary and strange, independent to the point of isolating himself from others. His intelligence gets him into trouble frequently, as does his tendency to figure out things that he’s better off not knowing. He’s socially a disaster, and barely knows how to interact with others, especially kids his age.
History: The son of a minor noble family, raised in the city in a relatively normal life. Gilbert has been remarkably intelligent since childhood, and, although he had countless tutors supplied by his father, much preferred to teach himself. His family was relatively distant, spending more time with his younger siblings that Gilbert, and tended to leave their child to his own devices, since he was intelligent enough to manage himself. Gilbert developed a taste for knowing things at a young age, and was constantly in trouble for picking up some secret he shouldn’t have.
Home: A small manor in the city, surrounded by others like it. He currently resides in a dorm at the Academy, and rooms with one other boy.
Personality: Gilbert is a sharp and naturally curious boy, easily fascinated by the world around him. He’s remarkably intelligent, bordering on genius, and has had a desire to learn and expand his knowledge from childhood. He prefers information and secrets to plain facts, though, and has a small obsession with memorizing the social habits of his peers. He’s strange and solitary, preferring to keep to himself, and has made few friends in his lifetime. He has a reputation for being bizarre and hard to approach, and, while not exactly bullied, is far from well-liked.
Interests: Gilbert likes secrets, libraries, and talkative people. He dislikes being out of the loop, dogs, and having to spend time with his peers. His hobbies are information gathering and finding hiding places
Miscellaneous: He has four younger siblings, three boys and a girl. His favorite food is beef tips and mashed potatoes. He can play the piano fairly well. He nearly gave a teacher a heart attack once by popping out of a hole in the paneling. He once convinced a group of children that he could see the future. He’s never had a real friend in his life. He loves learning, but hates school. He’s known across campus as knowing everyone’s secrets.
Connotative Description: A sly and overly intelligent boy who knows too much, but tells little
