Advice you need before Ramadaan’s arrival: “Give it a break!”
In order to make our Ramadaan different, as it was meant to be, we must have a moment of “truce” or “tranquility” in Ramadaan from the following
1. A Break from all sins.
2. A break /peace from all the discussions and argumentation at home.
a) Try to find solutions to family problems and put them to a rest.
b) Try to set up the atmosphere such that it is full of love and tranquility .
c) Call an “emergency meeting” with all members of the house (if possible) to agree on the principles that will be followed in Ramadaan
3. A break from problems / discussions/ annoyances with friends, relatives, and co-workers. Peace with co-workers and / or friends. Forgive, forget, overlook, and resolve issues.
4. A break from too much food.
5. A break from talking. The Prophet (s) said, “Whoever remains silent is saved.”
6. A break from your bed…let it rest for a month!
7. A break from people.
8. A break from not properly fulfilling family ties. Making peace by maintaining family ties.
9. A break from “running around” and long hours out of the house.
10. A break from thoughts about the dunya. Give your mind and heart a break from thinking about this life and your worldly affairs. Preoccupy your mind with your religion and the Hereafter instead.
a. Think of a new good deed to do
b. Think of ways you can serve and help the Muslims.
c. Think of the pleasures of Paradise; imagine yourself in Jannah.
11. A break from withholding / Give lots of charity, in Ramadaan.
