I feel this is the most important step to creating an image, and in the end the most satisfying. My images start as a very specific idea in my head. I used to illustrate a lot, so I have honed my ability to see an image in my head in great detail. It took about 4 years before I was able to achieve the image I pre-visualized every time I set out to do so. I would say it is extremely frustrating to attempt this and fail, but it is also extremely satisfying and addicting to be successful. I encourage everyone to try story boarding your shoots. After you get the shot in the can, then you can explore and experiment with unplanned setups.
