Covid-19 Precautionary measures

According to scientists Covid-19 is here to stay. If you’re still having to self-isolate 15 months into our first lockdown because you are high risk and those you share your home with are having to go out, there are things you can remember to do to limit your risk of infection.

The key to staying safe is social distancing and masking up.

Other key points include:

Avoid using shared spaces at the same time as others. Distance yourself from those you eat with;

Use a separate bathroom and if that isn’t possible, use the bathroom after everyone else has finished and make sure it’s been cleaned before you go in. Bathroom surfaces like the kitchen should be wiped down and disinfected after every use;

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitiser gel if soap is not available;

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when you sneeze or cough and put your tissue straight in the bin;

Clean objects and surfaces such as kettles, door handles and phones regularly with cleaning products;

Wear a face covering when in shared spaces;

Open windows in the house so there is open ventilation. Although anyone with a weakened immune system are more prone to catching Covid-19, others are also affected by Covid-19.

Conclusion:

The pointers above limit our chances of catching Covid-19. They should be something we’re all doing. For us to limit catching Covid-19, or spreading the virus without us knowing we have it, it is always helpful to take necessary precautions.

It is because scientists say the virus is here to stay that we need to limit the collateral damage further. It may be that we can never get back to ‘life as we knew it’ but we all should be working together, so we can at least continue to limit catching Covid-19, support each other and our loved ones.
