“Hola, señor.”

The boy didn’t question why someone was in his area... he could very easily guess. One didn’t need to have future vision to know that people only came this way when they wanted their prophecy read. The boy was already grabbing the things he needed, hands a bit shaky. This person seemed... odd. Something about him confused Bruno... but he couldn’t be rude, he didn’t wanna upset someone from town and upset his mamá in turn. People needed him to be ready for them no matter what.

“What brings you here today?” he asked, a very weak smile coming to his face as he began to make a circle on the ground.

         there’s      NO      GOOD      INTENT      in   the   man   as   he   slinks   his   SMUG   way   over   to   bruno   ,      who   was   quite   the   ELUSIVE   man   ,      in   ercole’s   eyes   ――   upon   hearing   about   him   BEFORE   his   trip   on   over   to   the   encanto   ,      the   details   were   SCARCE   ,      but   then   again   ?      his   padre   wasn’t   quite      CLOSE      with   the   majority   of   the   family   EITHER   WAY.         (      an   unreliable   NARRATOR   ,      if   one   will.      )         which   was   funny   to   ercole   ,      given   he   had      A      FEW      YEARS      to   get   to   know   the   family   well   before   DITCHING.      the   man   would   only   have   to   FILL   IN   the   blanks   on   his   own   ,      which   was   of   no   problem.      ercole   had   a   TENDENCY   to   be   nosy.

         ❝      sooo   ,      ❞         approaching      SUDDENLY      from   behind   ,      ercole   chirps   up   ,      his   gaze   FLICKERING   to   the   other   passing   family   members   before   returning   to   the   DISHEVELED   -   looking   man.         ❝      if   i   recaaaall   ,      you   can   tell   the   FUTURE   ,      sì   ?      ❞         of   course   ,      straight   to   the   POINT   ――   ercole      POKES      a   finger   at   bruno’s   shoulder.         ❝      y’know   what   YOU   should   do   ?      look   into   MINE   !      ❞         he   says   with   an   unmatched   EAGERNESS.      ever   since      HEARING      about   his   gift   ,   ercole’s   been   MORE   than   excited   to   ASK   for   a   vision         [   .   .   .   ]         even   despite   all   the   WARNINGS   ,      tall   tales   ,      whathaveyou.

It had been…a long time since she had SEEN him, thinking that he had gotten up and just LEFT their family—ABANDONED them—though, she did ASSUME that he RUINED the happiest day of her life—that didn’t necessarily mean she WANTED him to disappear. What really SURPRISED her, was that her daughter was able to keep Bruno living in the walls of the Casita a SECRET—Dolores wasn’t very GOOD at keeping them (and neither was Pepa, if she was being honest).

But—he was HOME now. Things were going to CHANGE. She had realized that what happened on her wedding day wasn’t his FAULT; she over reacted, like she ALWAYS does. Her emotions got the better of her—like they ALWAYS do. His reappearance made her REALIZE that even though she was constantly ANGRY with him, even while he was GONE, that she really, truly, MISSED him.

Arms move to WRAP around Bruno and she sighs, leaning the side of her head on TOP of his.

“DIOS MIO, I missed you. Don’t you EVER run off like that again!”

      she calms herself down enough to wipe her eyes. it’s not like she entirely meant to cry in front of him, but -- she couldn’t help it. this whole thing -- this whole situation. she wanted to mad, but -- every time she looks at him, she couldn’t help but feel a bit calm. he wants so bad for this not to escalate. 

      ❝ i’m sorry. ❞ she says, breathing in. it must be an awkward thing to bruno -- to sit here while she cries. but, at the same time, she hopes that he doesn’t blame her. after breathing in, she stands up, slowly turning back towards him as she thinks,  ❝ i... ❞ lips are pressed in a thin line before continuing,  ❝ i need some time -- please don’t talk to me until i’m ready, okay ? ❞

       a hand comes to rest on his shoulder in order to comfort him. it was rough, carrying the burden of a gift he had. not that dulce could say she understood, but it was hard when the entirety of the village was constantly looking at you. and not only that, but people always assumed the worst of bruno’s vision. she really wishes she could help ease the pain her friend was in.

       ❝ you can’t please everyone, bruno. ❞ she says, her hand moving to rest atop of his,  ❝ what’s important is that you don’t give up. after all, you’ve got a very special gift. don’t forget that. i think you’ve been doing your family proud. ❞

         bruno was someone that dulce cared so much for. she’ll say that she loves him, even. the madrigal meant so much to her -- which is why these last few days ? weeks ? had become frustrating to her. it’s not like she could say she really does understand whatever it is bruno was going through, but it wasn’t like he was doing a good job at explaining this whole thing to her.

     ❝ it’s not that i’m pretending, i want to understand, bruno ! ❞ she says, hand running through her hair. it felt like they’ve bee going through all of this for hours.  ❝ i don’t get it -- do you.. am i not... good enough ? or not what you want ? you haven’t exactly made anything clear.  ❞

                    SHE    WAS    A    VISITOR    ;    A    GUEST    .    she’d    come    from    so    far    ----    norway    and    further    north    than    that    over    a    frozen    sea    .    magic    was    drawn    to    magic    like    that    of    a    thread    ,    red    and    shining    .    and    it    was    that    thread    that    led    her    to    them    .    she’d    stood    before    them    all    ,    witnessing    their    gifts    with    her    own    icy    eyes    .    at    last    ,    it    was    her    turn    .    hands    had    rose    and    she    felt    the    tingling    sensation    run    up    her    arms    .    it    was    an    emotion    ----    joy    bubbling    up    until    it    burst    from    palms    and    fingertips    to    swirl    up    above    them    and    shower    them    in    glistening    snowflakes    .

                    of    course    they    had    many    questions    for    her    and    she    had    many    for    them    .    it    would    come    in    time    ,    however    .    she    would    be    there    for    a    while    .    and    in    time    ----    despite    her    odd    appearance    among    the    people    of    the    town    ---    she    had    become    accepted    and    the    staring    had    almost    stopped    .

                still    ,    she    was    curious    .that    thread    was    still    there    .    there    was    a    past    here    that    she    wanted    to    see    .    .    .    but    where    to    start    ?    she    was    far    from    ahtohallan    .    .    .

                    ❝    oh    ---    !    ❞    how    silly    of    her    .    she    had    been    so    lost    in    her    storm    of    thoughts    that    she    had    not    been    paying    attention    .    quick    were    her    reflexes    in    helping    catch    what    had    fallen    off    the    tray    when    she    had    turned    the    corner    and    ran    into    him    ,    ❝    i’m    so    sorry    ,    bruno    .    i    should    have    been    paying    attention    ---    you’re    not    hurt    are    you    ?    ❞
