Summary ───𐂯 With the passion to continue to attempt her dream of being a ballet dancer, despite the kinds of circumstances she found herself caught in nowadays, a teenage girl makes it her mission to try and forget about her horrible surroundings and make it her goal to dance. And only dance. As a hobby, something to bring her joy. But also as a distraction. In the midst of teaching herself her pirouettes inside of an old dance studio, a young boy unintentionally frightens her. He becomes curious about the mysterious girl far more than he knows he should have.

A/N ───𐂯 little preface for a little fic I've been thinking about making for a while now. I know absolutely NOTHING about ballet so...excuse my lack of knowledge. I will try my best, I swear. Carl is not dying in this because he deserved better, obviously. I'm not quite sure how many chapters this will have. I guess I'll figure it out along the way. I know I don't want too many, though. There's no description of what the reader looks like in this (or not specifically), only just what they're wearing I guess. While finding pictures for this, I was thinking that the reader has some soft coquette kinda style to tie in with the ballet aspects, so if you've got that style or enjoy ballet...hopefully you also enjoy this. I'm not sure when this will be out, but it will be over the next 2 weeks! Reminder - ! I only write my fics on Tumblr as of right now (aka my very first one) so everything will be on here !

Preface

Hello everyone! I have now included a preface at the beginning of Traces of Lilacs. Been working on it for quite sometime, and wanted something that spoke about me and why I'm using this fandom as an escape from reality. I'll post it on here, and it will be found on both Ao3 and Wattpad. Thanks everyone who's reading!

Some stories begin with a spark.

Mine began in the dark.

Laid off while pregnant. Excited to become a mother, yet suddenly without income. We moved into a drafty apartment with no heat and spotty electricity. Then came the sleepless nights, the postpartum fog, the weight of being everything for someone so small while feeling like nothing at all. After countless job applications and no prospects, my health slipped and I lost parts of myself I didn’t know I’d miss.

And then… magic.

The kind with wands or castles, but they were tucked inside a video game. Hogwarts Legacy arrived like a lifeline. I played, and something clicked. A girl named Raven began to form, not just a character, but a mirror. She was strong, even when she doubted. She loved fiercely. She carried lilac eyes like a curse, until she learned they were her power.

I started drawing her. Then writing her. And suddenly, I wasn’t just surviving, I was creating. Traces of Lilacs became a way to reconnect with myself. A way to remember who I was before motherhood, before another illness that almost killed me. It’s a story of identity, love, and the quiet fight to choose your own path. It’s about grief that doesn’t look like grief, and healing that doesn’t happen all at once.

Raven and Sebastian reminded me of my husband and I, teenagers in love and still holding on today. Their story is stitched with memory, magic, and the ache of growing up.

At first, I was terrified to share it. Afraid it might seem silly, or soft, or not worth anyone’s time. But it’s helped more than I expected.

So here it is. My first fanfic. Written between motherhood and a career, between exhaustion and hope. I know everyone is going through something, and this isn’t meant to be more than it is. Just a story that has helped me feel a little more like myself again.

I’m writing this entirely on my own, and any feedback, kind, constructive, or curious, is truly appreciated. Thanks for being here, and happy reading.
