OTD 2 years ago, I was lucky enough to attend the first of two special events with Richard. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀, a poignant film about a young Holocaust survivor starring Rich as the Polish farmer who hides him, was making the rounds, having already enjoyed success at the Manchester Film Festival that March. The U.S. premiere in July featured a screening and Q&A; then in September Rich returned to NYC for a similar event, this time with the film's RL protagonist, Max Smart, and director Rebecca Snow in tow. An experience I'll never forget! 📸

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗲 was first seen at the Sundance Film Festival OTD in 2019. The psychological thriller features Richard as a father who leaves his kids with his fiancé at the family's remote cabin during a snowstorm. Even if the story's horror elements aren't your cup of tea and Rich's minimal screentime is disappointing, it should be noted he took the part because he wanted to work with filmmakers Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala after seeing their 2015 breakout Goodnight Mommy. And he was pleased with the outcome. "I enjoyed the premise of the story," he said at the premiere, "and it was really nice to work with brilliant, lovely people." On a personal note, no one but Rich could make drinking alka-seltzer look so sexy (top right). 🤤
