“Could you do a Darth Vader x Reader, where the reader is a spy among the rebels, but their cover gets blown and the rebels imprison the reader. So Vader personally goes and saves the reader.“- @gayforstabbymen
A/N: Oh this is good, also this is if Anakin never fried on Mustafaar.
I donn the uniform I had received from the former princess of Alderaan, gathering what information I can by eavesdropping. I sit at a more secluded table, not wanting to draw attention to myself. I eat peacefully and journal until the table jolts at the weight of someone joining me. I glance up and am face to face with the rebellions favorite pilots. I blink largely at them, shocked they not only noticed me in the crowds of people, but decided to sit at my table. Looking into Luke’s face, I see his father in him, but also Padme. Clearing my thoughts, I smile at them, taking on the part of an eager rebel. “Oh, hello. What’s up? I can move tables if you need this one.” Han glances over his shoulder at something, but Luke grabs my attention. “Oh, no Y/N, you’re fine here. We actually wanted to get to know you better. You’re just so different than everyone else here.” I nod slowly, trying to see what he meant by different. He continues, “Oh and you knew Ben. I was actually wondering if you knew my father or mother.” I swallow down the pride in my throat, he truly is his father's son. “Yes, I knew your parents. Your mother was the most beautiful woman in all the galaxy, and brave to boot. It was incredible to see her fight for what she believed. She was much like Leia in that way. Your father is amazing, always has been wonderful in dueling, not to mention his piloting skills. When you go out there and just go, I see him clear as day. You had wonderful parents, ones who would’ve done anything for you.” His head snaps up at my admission. “Wait, you said “is amazing”, meaning he’s still alive. Ben said he was dead! Who’s my father?” I swallow down my mistake, caught up in my old memories to remember that “Anakin Skywalker” is dead to the galaxy, and quickly think up a way out of this. “Oh, Luke, I’m sorry. I meant was, I just got so caught up in the past, I felt that he was still here.” Luke nods to something behind me and furry paws clap down on my shoulders. I remain calm, not wanting to blow my cover if it hasn’t already been blown. Han speaks up behind me, “Good job distracting her kid, we found letters from the Empire in her room. She did good hiding them, but her communicator went off, alerting us to their secret spot.” I struggle against the wookie, trying to get free and run back to the empire with the information I have. Before I can even pull away from the three rebels, a pair of binders are slapped down onto my wrists, and my gun is removed. I am escorted to an old interrogation room and shoved down into a cold metal chair.
I sit waiting for an unknown amount of time, it could be minutes, it could be hours. I fiddle with my sleeves, not able to get out of the cuffs, let alone a base full of rebels thirsty for empire blood. I hear the hissing of door locks and Leia Organa walks into my holding cell with such beauty and grace, there is no question of her parentage. “Y/N, please, tell us what the Empire has planned, and what you told them of our plans.” I shake my head at her. “You know I can’t do that Leia. Vader sent me here, and the council will not tolerate any treachery. It doesn’t matter how much favoritism Vader shows towards me.” She nods, and exits. With her exit, a male rebel enters. “Leia tried good cop, so it’s my turn to play bad cop.” He tries to beat the information out of me, but to no avail. Frustrated, he leaves and I wait some time longer, and Leia once again returns, this time with my communicator. “I have spoken to our council, and we’ve decided to connect with the Empire. You will send a message to the council, Vader, whoever you need, and you will be our bargaining chip. They let us go without any trouble and they receive you safely, or we leave without warning and leave you here on Hoth. Understand?” I swallow, knowing what I have to do to get back to my lover, but also acknowledging the price it will cost. I nod and say to her, “Your parents would be proud of you, you are truly a talented negotiator.” I gingerly take the communicator from her hands and ask her to step out of sight. I click my lord and lover. He almost immediately accepts my call, his masked form intimidating to everyone else but me as he takes in the bruises forming under my eye and beneath my clothes. “My Lord, my cover has been blown. The rebels wish to trade me back in exchange for safe passage off this icy hell-hole. I sincerely apologize for my failure on this mission.” I watch his little ticks, his fists squeeze tighter than usual and his arms box out in anger. “Are the rebel scum in the room with you?” At his question, Leia steps forth. “Lord Vader, we have learned that Y/N is extremely valuable to you and the Empire, and we wish to move on. I hope for both our and Y/N’s sake we can come to an agreement.” Another rebel steps forward just enough to pull me out of the frame, his hands being the only thing visible. The moment I am pulled away to let the negotiation begin, everything goes south, his voice shakes under his mask, swearing to bring all of his fury down upon the rebellion if they so much as hurt another hair on my head. As he shuts off the comm link, Leia swirls around, searching the room for me, striding towards me with hard, angry steps. I shut my eyes in anticipation as she raises her hand to strike, but I only hear the slap echo off the cell walls, and the hands that grip me loosen. “What have you done? You hurt our only bargaining chip, and you have sent the most powerful man in the Empire to do us in! This was to be a gentle operation.” She then turns to me, “Y/N, I am so sorry for the way you were treated. This was not the way it was supposed to be handled. I have to fix his mistake now, but we are out of options. I will leave you with your communicator, but we will leave you behind. Vader is on his way now to “rescue” you so you won’t be here long. I am sorry it had to be this way. You were a very good friend while you were here, and if things were different, maybe we could have been closer.” With that, she leaves.
I am escorted behind her, watching ships take off as fast as possible. I catch Luke’s eye as he departs, and my binders are only removed before Leia boards the last ship out. As I watch the ship leave the atmosphere, I sense my lover entering the same field. He disembarks his ship quickly and reaches me with long strides. I am swept up into his arms as hordes of troopers in white storm the now abandoned base. I feel the intruding feeling of the force flow through me, my lover taking inventory of all possible injuries. I push myself to my toes to press a kiss to his mask. Sighing, he lifts me into his arms and carries me to his ship. I open my mouth to protest. “I’m fine Ani, just a few bruises.” After we get back to the Death Star he forces me to relax and rest after the day I had. Beckoning him into the bed with me I turn to him. “They truly are your children by the way. Luke is so much like you used to be. His piloting skills definitely were inherited. And Leia, she’s got this fire in her eyes I saw so many times in you. She has so much passion when it comes to her organization. I know they stand against you, but you have so much to be proud of. I wish things were just a bit different. That you and them could be united together and a happy family.” He crawls into the sheets we share, and presses his lips to my temple, his long graying hair tickling my nose. He turns out the light, and we both dream of how the universe would be different if we could hold the little family we so desperately missed.
