In other news, I passed my minimester stats class with a B+! Next week I finish up with microbiology. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t struggling though...

Hey Wayfaring! I’m hoping to go into med in the future, but my math and hard science marks are not as good as I’d hoped. I realize those are important but... how important? I’ve always been better at the liberal arts, but I love medicine as a discipline and I’d hate to have Number Anxiety be a(nother) barrier :/
I mean, it’s pretty dang important. So much so that schools consider your science GPA separately from your overall GPA and the MCAT is mostly composed of science. If your science GPA is way lower, some schools may wonder if you can handle the rigors of the science being thrown at you in med school. Yes, med schools are looking for well rounded applicants that didn’t necessarily major in a science discipline, but I can guarantee you the folks in med school who have English degrees still did well in science. It’s important to have a solid foundation of science to build on in medical school. There won’t be time to relearn the basics. As for math, yeah, it’s a requirement, but not something you’ll use a whole lot beyond basic arithmetic unless you decide to go into radiation oncology or something like that.
STAT 311 prerequisite change in Winter 2019
Effective Winter 19, STAT 311 prerequisites have been changed and the new prerequisites are: Either MATH 120, MATH 124, MATH 125, MATH 126, Q SCI 190, or MPT-AS Math placement test score of 154-163.
We strongly prefer that the new prerequisites be satisfied by taking those courses at UW.

I swear not reading terms and conditions keeps screwing me over in the worst ways .
