Present Tension || Brock + Anzu

Brock stood in line for a ferry ticket at the Olivine pier, ready to return home after a successful afternoon gift shopping. His sister's birthday was coming up, and after a few visits to Cerulean City, she'd taken a liking to the ocean and its beaches. Olivine had seemed like the right place to go to get a fitting gift, and after a little shopping he'd found a small bracelet made of seashells and a matching pair of earrings for her newly-pierced ears.
He'd made a quick stop at the local cafe to grab some lunch, and then headed back toward the pier. As the line moved up, however, the sensation of something being slightly off struck him.
Was he missing something? Brock patted his pockets, feeling for his wallet and keys and finding both to be right where they were supposed to be. So, what...? He thought for a moment, then felt his heart drop as he realized what was wrong. The gift! He no longer had the bag or the present he'd bought—the whole reason he'd come to Olivine. He groaned, thinking back to try and place where he'd left it. The cafe was the most likely place, and he turned away from the docks, heading quickly back in that direction.
It wasn't far, but by the time he arrived and returned to where he'd been sitting, the bag was no longer there. Feeling more anxious and concerned than before, he looked around to locate someone who could help him. As he scanned the area he noticed the waitress who'd served him emerging from the kitchen, and felt a little bit relieved. She'd have cleared the table after he left, right? So if anyone would've seen it, she was probably his best bet.
She didn't look like she was in the middle of something, so Brock headed over to her, catching her attention with a wave. "Hi, ah, I think I left a bag here earlier, do you know if anyone might've found it? It was a small paper bag, over by that table," he said, gesturing with his hands to indicate its size and the location of the table.
