He loved watching the commercials, constantly begged his parents to buy the newest toys from the company (his favorute toy was Bron!) and he HIGHLY looked up to Elliot Ludwig and the things he did. He wantes to be just like him, bringing smiles to people like Preston!
Backstory
Preston Henry was born on October 16th 1970 in Michigan to parents who adored him. He was a reckless boy, constantly getting himself hurt and growing up- Preston used to be obsessed with Playtime Co's toys.
Though, he was bullied the older he got for his interest in the toys at school, which caused Preston to develop selective mutism from it where he couldn't speak at school much. He did go to therapy for it but it didn't get better fast. After the bullying, Preston decided to focus on his studies and excel amazingly in high school- where he eventually met his highschool sweetheart.
Preston was at the top of his class and extracurricular classes. His excellent grades and scores helped with Preston graduating early from school at 17 and managed to get to university where he managed to get himself a science degree.
His excellent science records was what caught the eye of Leith Pierre, who in 1990, hired the man to work at his company. Preston was excited as he always wanted to work at the Company (but didn't think he could with how he pursued science) and was ecstatic, and confused, about the job offer. And his confusion was quuiickly dissipated to horror when he was hired as a evaluist in Game Station and learned about what they did in the underground.
He was horrified, but being one of the youngest scientists and not being able to speak up for a majority of the time- he was persuaded into thinking this is for the greater good and Preston tried to focus on only the job and not sympathize with the children.
It did not work, as the guilt gradually worsened over the years and so did his selective mutism. And it came to a point when he was given a promotion on the 7th of august, 1995, by Leith Pierre who wanted Preston to spend his talents somewhere he could use it- The secondary labs.
Preston internally freaked out, and he skipped the next day without a single word to anybody. And when he came back on the 9th- the factory shut down. This would've been great and Preston could move on- But he knows too much, he saw too much, and the guilt over having done nothing and not being able to speak up about it gradually made his mental health worse.
He was distant and quiet to his loved ones, and this change of behavior eventually drew him and his wife to have a rocky marriage until their divorce in 1999.
Preston was ready to rot all alone to death in his own apartment until his parents dragged him back to their home in fear of losing their son. They didn't understand what was wrong and they assumed he was heavily upset by the loss of his job, so they looked for a job for Preston he might enjoy- and that's how he began to work at an Arcade.
Preston was hesitant about the job at first, but the boss eventually got to Preston's walls and he began to open up outwardly! He became chattier and he did pretty well at his job, and he started to love his Arcade shop.
Though of course, his inner demons never left him. He still felt empty and the guilt from his past, and he could never truly cope from it. He attemptes to simply act as if it NEVER happened. To the point he drastically changed his appareance to not resemble his past self. But it didn't help fully. He still anguished of the past, with no way for him to be able to atone for it.....
Until, he got that letter and tape. And while he hesitated at first, he saw the letter as his first- and only chance- to do good again by finding his ex co-workers.. And find out what even happened on August 8th, 1995.
Personality wise:
Preston is an easy-going and chill guy. He loves to crack jokes, tease, goof around and act a little childish for the fun of it. He’s also a bit of a quiet guy, preferring to speak up whenever he needs to or around people he likes. He cares a lot and has a protective instinct for people, going out of his way to help everybody in every way. He’s very friendly! Optimistic, opportunistic and a quick-thinker- He’s the ideal Angel that will save the factory! The Angel that will do anything to protect the toys and save the orphans. He has always been determined when it comes to achieving his goals or exploring deeper into the factory even if it seems impossible.
But, Preston has his own downsides to him. His guilt over his past actions constantly plagues his conscience and every action he takes. The bravery he shows is a forced act to hide how cowardly he is on the inside.. He often pushes people away whenever he thinks is for the best- whether it be for their safety, or to keep his darkest secret hidden. He. He’s a people pleaser, too. He does what he is told to do and often hesitates to go against the orders unless it strongly goes against his morals. Preston would risk bone and meat to do whatever people needed him to do, without hesitation or questioning it further.
He has a deep hatred for himself and who he once was, which affects how he views the value of his life for others’ sake. A trait he has kept from his scientist days are his intrusive thoughts. The kind of violent thoughts that Preston often tries to ignore for the sake of his morals, but they never leave them.

Hey!!! Seen your reblog with scamp (??xcuse if I mistyped the name I am bad at names) where they called the Player Preston so I just HAD TO ask.
Are they actually the Preston, or you have two Prestons running around the factory, so when(if) they eventually encounter Preston1 (Catbee) they're gonna hit that one Spiderman pose? I am so curious to know! If you said about it prior, can you pls attach a link or sth?
Hello! And nope, my Player is not Preston Willard! Instead, he is Preston Henry ^^
I named my player that name waaay before these tapes where P.W's full name was revealed, so that was a real doozy to deal with when i thought for a moment that the Player might be P.W, and AALMOOOST subscribing to that theory until, well, that scene happened LOL
Typically, i would've changed his name to avoid confusion BUT i. Got attached to the name. And the concept of two Prestons running around is very funny to me, too :)
If there is a Securityangel highschool au, what would the plot be? I know, Harley, Leithe, Stella, Bruno, and Edie would the popular kids. I know angel would be just some guy. So hi would Harley and angel fall in love with each other?
THIS IS SUCH A LATE, REALLY LATE ANSWER BUT I FINALLY GOT THE TIME TO ANSWER IT 🫵 AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE ON THIS AU AS MY CO-WRITER FOR THIS AU @theglitchedmoon ALSO SHARED IDEAS FOR IT!! (which btw, thank you Moon for writing a bullet point list for me to use as guidance, i appreciate it a lot :D and it helped so so much FAAHHH....)

Harley and Preston (my Player) were childhood friends who used to spend time sharing their nerdy interests with each other and grew very close as friends, until one day- His father got a better job somewhere far away from their home, causing Preston to have to move away. Leaving Harley behind, who turned bitter after losing his only friend who left him behind.
Harley tries to move on by throwing himself into his studies and shrugging everybody away from him. His focus is now to become the top of his class! But an accident occurs during middle school, when Harley got into an car accident caused by his alcoholic father. Because of it, Harley lost an eye and was sent in foster care by social services (he had a toxic home life, if you haven't guessed by now!) And eventually, he was adopted by Elliot Ludwig himself.
What has Preston been up to, in that new city? Preston did not adjust easily to his new school, causing him to develop selective mutism and being pretty anti-social with most people. There was one girl they grew very close to, a girl named Cynthia Cribley! (Which btw, Cynthia is their ex-wife in his og lore :))
She made their new school life a lot more easier to adjust to. Preston grew out of their nerdiness and began to become more fo a jock. Eventually, the two of them moved into another city and to a new high school-
The same high school that Harley is at.
The two reunite when Preston was assigned to the same class as he is. The two immediately recognized each other at first sight! Preston was overjoyed to see their childhood friend again, Harley... Not so much LOL
Unfortunately for Harley, Leith assigned Harley to be Preston's tour guide around the school to help them get to know their new school.
Which, btw! Leith is the president of student council, with his council consisted of Eddie as his vice president, Stella as the secretary and Harley himself being the class representative. They're all part of the same council! Bruno is also in this AU, as Harley's right hand man in the school as Harley also leads the science club at the school. Bruno has unrequited feelings for Harley ^^
And ensue Preston's muuuultiple attempts to reconnect with Harley who absolute HATES their guts now, to no avail LOL and yet, Harley can’t really escape even if he wanted to. In the AU, Poppy and Oliver are also Elliot's adopted kids- therefore, Harley's siblings. And one day, he came home to find out that Preston is babyssiting for Oliver and Poppy, so he can't even his past childhood friend in his house too :)
Eventually, Harley does manage to get swayed by Preston, and he "reluctantly" accepted to come visit them in his football practices. Preston would always get excited to see him at the bleachers and give him the dorkiest smiles, that makes Harley a little giddy fuzzy in the inside. Until he watched as a distracted Preston gets thrown a ball in the face (he is okay tho! But Harley did call him an idiot)
And in the au, they get to rekindle their friendship and gradually fall in love with each otherrr, with a little bit of drama here and there for fun :)))
There is one scene me and my friend Moon thought about where the two of them are spending time at the bleachers at night, staring up at the stars and having a nice time together. And then, Harley makes the first move and he kisses Preston first, kissing under the stars :3 but he ran away afterwards because he didn't mean to do it </3
