summary: Aurelia Leclaire inherits an apartment in Paris. Her grandmother had a secret apartment full of treasures. Gowns and art decorate the walls and closet. Aurelia contacts Gabriel Seymour, an art restorer and appraiser, to help learn more about the art pieces and how they wound up in the apartment. The book jumps back and forth between Aurelia and Estelle Allard, her grandmother. Estelle lives in Paris in 1942. She is a strong woman who fights against the Nazis and works with the resistance. In the book, we learn Estelle's story as Aurelia unravels each secret hidden in the apartment.

review: Bowen is such a talented author. She wrote characters such as Aurelia and Estelle, and other smaller characters, in such a charming way. As a reader, I fell in love with them and only hoped that Aurelia and Estelle were able to spend more time and talk about Estelle's past. At first, the book was a little confusing because I did not know where some characters came into play and what they had to do with the main characters, but with time I understood. Bowen crafted the storyline so intricately that the characters wove in with each other. If you like books where you become attached to characters, this is a good book for you.

Spring 2023 Update

So, I was able to finish the fall semester with a 4.0, which is the first time I’ve ever achieved something like this! I took break to rest and celebrate, and now am back to the grind for the spring semester.

This semester I am taking three classes and TAing a lab portion for undergrads. My classes are: Physiology of Reproduction, Ruminant Nutrition, and Animal Physiology I. I am TAing undergrad Swine Techniques.

This semester I am going completely digital! I am taking “messy” notes on my Surface Pro before revising on my iPad with GoodNotes, which I’m already in love with!

I’m hoping to be more active on here this semester as having a studyblr does help with motivation, and since I’m going to school and working on my VMCAS (vet school application), I will need all the motivation I can get.

Found a wonderful new cafe to study at! Did four hours of work there and the tea is just delicious. Will definitely be going back.

When was the last time you had a life-changing revelation? What revelation did you have? Not to get too depressing, but I've had a lot of revelations since my dad passed away in 2019. I've done a lot of work in therapy both on myself and my relationships with others. The specific one I remember from most recently is realizing that no one in their 20s (early, mid, or late) really knows what their doing. So instead of making role models out of people close to my age (like celebrities) I just love and support everyone.
