Fishuary Day 26: Type Of Guy With A House
His home now

This lumpy lad is the Monkey-faced prickleback [Cebidichthys violaceus], a bony fish that is primarily herbivorous in adulthood, but entirely carnivorous as larvae. Although pricklebacks aren’t fished as much as they were in the past, they are still caught by some fisherman, who use bait on the end of a long stick to entice them out of hiding. These images were taken by Joseph Dougherty.
Saw some beasts at the beach
Nudibranchs aplenty. Eggs up the wazoo. Isopods abound.
Feeding time in Tank 705 at the MaST Center Aquarium, for which I volunteer at. The work I do is important, but unpaid. This is because it is all I can do in a capitalist economy that refuses to work with autistic people in the job market. Because of my week-to-week efforts, the MaST Center Aquarium remains free for all from 10am-2pm on Saturdays; our tanks are clean and our animals' bellies are full thanks to me and my fellow volunteers. This goes to show that autistic people do have value and capabilities, despite what HR departments would have you think. People like me keep aquariums like this running. We keep these animals alive and healthy.
When you don’t like something

This is a monkeyface prickleback. I’m not making that up. That’s legitimately the name of the species. #fish #eel #monkeyface #prickleback #aquarium (at Natural Bridges State Beach)
