The long road to friendship.
Since the revolution, Connor had expected things to change over time. He’d expected changes in laws. He’d expected fewer crimes against androids by humans, and fewer crimes against humans by androids. He hadn’t expected to wind up as Gavin Reed’s partner. In hindsight, he should have. Once Fowler found out that Hank had taken Connor in, and become something of a father figure for him, they hadn’t been allowed to be partners anymore. Working together and living together was deemed too personal.
So Connor had been reassigned as Gavin’s partner. It hadn’t been fun at first, the pair constantly at odds, with Gavin seemingly taking every opportunity to ridicule him. But Connor consoled himself with the fact that it was his job, he had to do it, and he still had his desk near Hank, so it wasn’t all bad.
In time, though, Connor found that working with the detective wasn’t as bad as it had originally seemed. Gavin, despite everything, was good at his job, they worked well together, and it felt like they had a mutual respect developing from that basis. Gavin didn’t insult him as much, almost as though the ‘bromance’ Connor used to joke about might not be such a stretch after all, though they certainly weren’t there yet. At very least, Connor could go over to Gavin’s desk to update him on their case without getting his head bitten off. Which was lucky, because he needed to.
“Detective, I’ve received information that our suspect has been spotted downtown, we should head down there.”
