Pride Poem, by Samantha Williams
Women are women regardless of sex And men are men in most respects You can be both or a mix of the two You can be neither if that’s what suits you But people are people whatever their parts Because what really matters is inside of our hearts
The rainbow is our symbol to show all shades in our community You tell us to learn in every opportunity So yes to equality, yes to being loud Yes to loving everyone in our crowd
Yet too much blood has flown for the wrists Of people shamed for who they kiss Does the bible tell you we’re accounted ill? More strongly than ‘thou shalt not kill’? But how about 'love thy neighbour’? Does that now say 'ignore, don’t save her’?
Because we deserve to be treated the same As those who are deemed relatively sane For love is purely human nature And in every other living creature
Let a man have his groom We will flourish, we will bloom Let a lady have her bride We’re going to embrace our pride So no matter what you say or do You will have to put up with us too
Now don’t be bitter Or beware our glitter We can’t be cured Maybe you need to be matured Because fuck you, that’s why Now ta-ra a bit, bye-bye
nobody should feel alienated inside their community, for whatever reason. a symbol that has already undergone various changes isn't more important than the safety and inclusion of our brothers and sisters and everybody in between 💖
Double rainbow over my house
Can I get a hell yeah for marriage equality??
