i first realized that i was Not Straight in the summer of 2016. i went back and forth for quite a while, not finding an identity that felt right.
then i found the title panromantic asexual, and it felt right. now, i dont identify as that anymore, but it was such a relief.
the first person in my family that i told was my mom. i had just gotten my first girlfriend, and my mom was well aware that i had been talking to her for a few months, so i just kinda told her that... we were together? she asked me a few questions that i was too awkward to answer.
i was planning on telling my dad too, but i got scared and didnt say anything. this was at the end of 2017.
fast forward to august of 2018. i decided to make a post on instagram, where a lot of my relatives follow me, and post a picture of me with a pride fan and the definition of what bisexuality is.
i got so many positive comments from relatives and friends, and my heart was beating so hard through the whole thing, i had no idea what to expect.
i am privileged though, i live in sweden, a country known for being lgbtq+ positive, and my oldest cousin had previously talked about the lgbtq+ community and said how good it was and things like that, so i knew that if me coming out went to shit, i would atleast have my mom and cousin with me.
it all turned out okay though, and im so grateful that it did.
