Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper, Death Surge EDH/Commander

So this is a Primal Surge list with Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper at the helm.

Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper  Helps power the Sac base card draw in the deck along with some other draw cards that care about creature ETB. Sek also provides meat shields and board wipe protection and makes out Fleshbag Marauder effects one sided. 

The Game plan:

Ramp -- > Set up Card draw engine --> hit a search card --> Find Primal Surge

Most of the deck is focused on this goal alone, keeping the deck as streamlined as possible while only playing permanents outside of Primal Surge.

So if your looking for an underplayed general for style points but still having a tuned powerful deck this may be a deck to look at for you. 

Im still toying around with the list and may make some cuts to stream line the game plan along even more.

If I put Venser, Shaper Savant into play with Primal Surge, can I return primal surge to my hand?

No.

You don’t put any triggers from the permanents entering the battlefield on the stack until you’ve finished resolving Primal Surge.

Do you have any particular headcanons about Nidalee's healing winds/primal surge (I forget what it is called xD) and how effective is it? Is there a limit to how much she can heal? Does it negatively affect or weaken Nidalee afterward at all? Also how often does she heal her cougar family? Would she consider potentially prolonging their life where they would have otherwise have died from hunting wounds to be upsetting the balance of nature?

»  Primal Surge is what it’s called :3 - She does have a limit on how much she can heal and it is directly connected to her energy at the time. If she’s tired and weak and hungry, it’s not going to be very effective, whereas if she’s in good shape, then she can do a lot with it. However because it is connected with her, using it, and using a lot of that sort of primal magic can make her very weak. If it’s a minor wound, she may just be tired for a little while afterward, but healing a life threatening ailment would probably cause her to sleep for a few days after, and in general just be very pathetic. She has often used this to heal her family in the past, but mostly of very minor injuries. Nidalee is very careful not to upset the balance too badly, which means she would not use her magic to save, lets say an elder family member who has lived a long life. Creatures that are on the brink of death, usually belong to death, and trying to bring them back would only hurt her, and potentially upset the balance. If the hunting wound is not too severe, of course she would use all of her power to heal it, but ones that are too far gone, she heals by killing the hunter who inflicted it, and wearing their bones as a trophy.

Primal Surge

When I play my Jeleva commander deck, usually hitting a card like primal surge doesn't impress me too much. However, after playing a halimar depths, I saw that there was an omniscience just waiting!

Jeleva didn't appear too threatening, having only a worst fears and a primal surge left to cast after swinging to cast a rite of replication on Watcher sliver (yay 5 2/12s!!) the previous turn. But then i played omniscience (and two lands). I used phthisis on the opponent's Wather Sliver (take 14) and then finisher them off with a Baneful Omen trigger (revealing Fated Return) and pinging with Chandra.

The next player, swung with Rakdos, Lord of riots, and used eye of ugin to tutor Kozilek, butcher of Truth and then passed the turn. The Karametra player played a land and Karametra. On their end step, i crosis charmed kozilek, trigger on the stack used quicken to draw a card and then cast fated return to get an indestructible kozilek. My opponents scooped and we all shared a good laugh as the shopped closed up.

Playtesting the new EDH babby

Ten available mana on turn five, you say?

There are 6 non-permanents in the deck, other than Primal Surge, total. 

Works out to about 17~ish cards on the field, but in practice I've usually had 30-40 cards come out, especially late game(my math might be terrible because no math classes for three years).

On that particular playtest, 30 cards. On turn five.
