Every Metroid game brings Samus closer and closer to her true form of a Space Cowboy.
Metroid NES if they knew what they were doing.
what if samus had a really terrible mirgriaine one day while rescuing civilians, so she just like, couldn't get herself to speak. which then caused her to realize with relief that she could probably get away with not talking to people on other missions bc she always hated it. and then she got stuck on viewros and just went with business as usual. but then she grew to like the people she was with after a longer than expected stay. so she had this internal conflict of like "oh god, do i keep this up, is it weird if i talk now, what do i even say, nora why are you LOOKING AT ME like that-"

Unwanted Company
What if the reason for Samus' standoff-ish attitude in game is because she's also annoyed about the side characters? :D
Just something funny I thought I'd draw!
There’s something about Metroid Other M I realized; In the 2D games and Prime Trilogy, the suit came first and the gender of the person underneath it came second. The designs made her a soldier with the armory of a tank, looking sleek and futuristic but tall, broad and commanding. This made her look like she meant business. And when her face was revealed underneath to show she was a woman, it didn’t take away from her being confident, stoic, and willing to face danger on these lone planets.
But in Other M, Samus being a woman came first and the suit came second,as the design there makes Samus look more like a figurine with the hourglass body shape. This kind of design usually reads as feminine, causing people to pay attention to that aspect rather than her personality shown through her actions(which makes sense, considering how radically different her personality is in Other M).The suit puts more emphasis on the sleekness, while making her read as lithe and agile, makes it look more like a polished toy than a weapon, and the slimmed down arm cannon doesn’t help it’s case.
That’s where Metroid Fusion and Dread did the sleek idea better, because rather than use it to put more emphasis on her feminity, they tell a story about vulnerability and adapting to that situation. In Fusion, the suit in that game made samus way more vulnerable to damage and the cold(just like the titular aliens),which meant she couldn’t tank hits and keep fighting like she used to. She had to be more athletic and agile than in her old suit(which keep in mind, she still was agile in her prime suits). It clings to her body tightly, resembling muscle tissue and nerves, looking close to a bodysuit while still being androgynous. This makes it look bare on the surface,as Samus has to grow and adapt to survive with her new weaknesses on the BSL.
In Dread, there’s a balance between warrior tank and being feminine by the way the suit clings to her body, accentuating her curves. With the fast paced movement of the game and smooth animations, she shows confidence through her free agile movements, as if she’s doing parkour while taking out bosses. The warrior side of her shows through the armor bits that come back, like her chest piece and shoulder pads. While she may still be healing,it proves that she’s become stronger, not wanting to feel what she went through on the BSL. She’s toughening up.
Overall, while the suits in the Prime Trilogy and 2D games show her as being a warrior first and being a woman second,Other M’s suit shows her being a woman first and a warrior second. Samus is a warrior first and foremost, and while undeniably physically attractive underneath, it does’t take away her prowess in the slightest. But by that being the main focus in Other M,it forces people to see her as only a woman instead of a warrior as well.
But that’s just a theory-
AKIRA BIKE SLIDE SAMUS
Showing the results of my metroid prime 4 bingo and overall thoughts! (spoilers under the cut)
Ok this is really embarrassing guys
Obviously the green is what i got right🥹 only 3 boxes right and one was a free space...
Now for the yellow its the ones where they are a big maybe or if you think about them they COULD count so lets go through them kinda fast
Sylux doesnt die in the end/at least one trooper dies/myles mackenzie lives: obviously the ending makes it unclear what their fates were, the troopers COULD all be alive or they could not, same for sylux i suppose?
Sylux kills somebody: I made this box referring to sylux killing like a trooper or significant character BUT technically in the full cutscene depicting the sylux and samus flashback, he gets his soldiers killed due to his over ambition so I GUESSS he did
Viola is destroyed: ok i lwk swore on my life that one dragon looking boss in the lava place ate it and destroyed it but then it still shows up anyway! Violas fate is left unresolved how does she summon that thing😭 by the end she gives up the final suit and the psychic abilities so like I guess it like gone now or stranded on viewros.
The lamorn are evil: yeah I guess kinda in the sense the grievers WERE lamorn but theyre kinda on autopilot I wouldnt say evil
Overall thoughts this game was super fun and this is the fastest ive beat a metroid game ever so I feel proud of myself! I did get attached to the troopers and I cried at the end of the game i cant even lie dude😭😭 all the hate is so unnecessary this game was a good time!
I do have a few critiques like ok... the desert WAS a little too big but I think it did pad out the game a bit and i really liked the segments where you could talk to tokabi! I really hated the enemies in the desert tho but maybe i just sucked
I wish we got to see more of sylux and the space pirates in general. I am probably just super biased because I love the space pirates but MANN I really thought they were gonna be more active in the plot and not just at the start. The lamorn plot was super intriguing though and the pirates could have made it feel cluttered but the mochtroid plot was just forgotten about😭 like you would scan the bosses and it would be like "oh yeah theyre infected with metroid" uhhh ok how?? did they also get teleported to viewros or something??
Also I feel it have to state the obvious... NO RIDLEY😢😢😢😢 i miss ridley a lot but honestly im glad he wasn't in it because there was no way they could have fitted him into the overall story. But im still sad im living off ridley crumbs since prime remastered and that was almost 3 years ago NINTENDO PLEASE
Thats genuinely all my critiques the whole game was super fun and I got invested in the lamorn story! The reveal that they turned into grievers WAS SOO WELL DONE that might have been my favorite section in the game it was just woww
this game is definitely worth it and im sure its setting the foundations for a big overarching plot for the next prime games im looking forward to like the griever plot and ofc saving all the troopers🥹🥹
