The eras tour au- chapter three

Paige finally returned home but it was too quiet, the apartment looked dull without Rudy inside.

She frowned and set her keys on the end table, she wished Rudy was on the couch waiting her, but unfortunately he was in London..

She sighed and went to kitchen, attempting to make herself dinner but eventually gave up, the silence was deafening, she couldn’t handle this.

She looked at her phone, her nails tapping against the marble counter as she debated on calling Rudy or not, she really wanted to.

“ god fuck it..” Paige said as she finally picked up her phone, clicking the call button on Rudy’s contact.

She listened to it ring, pacing around the kitchen as she waited for him to pick up.

She nibbled her bottom lip as it rang until it finally went to his voicemail, she sighed and hung up, sitting on the kitchen floor and hugging her knees.

She sniffled, she felt so alone without him here, she didn’t know what to do.. the apartment felt cold, especially without his arms around her.

She trudged into the bedroom, finding one of his shirts and slipping it on, she felt some comfort but it wasn’t the same.. nothing else could feel the way his arms did.

Paige looked over and picked up her phone as it a rang, a small smile forming on her lips as it was Rudy.

“ hey baby, I’m so sorry. Today was rough and I wasn’t really allowed on my phone..are you okay..?” Rudy asked and Paige finally felt some relief, “ I just miss you..” she said honestly.

Rudy sighed, “ I miss you too.. a shit load. I’m losing my mind without you..” he said with a nervous laugh, “ can’t you just come home..?” She practically begged.

“ hey.. before you know it nine months will be gone.. and besides you’ll be on tour, I’m sure you’ll forget about me in no time” he joked but she frowned, “ I wanna be with you Ru..” she said quietly.

“ I know.. I know baby I’m sorry.. I wish I could’ve taken you with me..” he said and she could hear the regret in his voice, this was hell for them both.

Paige stared at the floor, anxiously biting the ‘R’ charm of her necklace, “ have you eaten today..?” Rudy asked, snapping her out of her thoughts.

“Just a small salad on break from practice..” Paige answered honestly, “ I figured. I ordered you food, chicken tenders of course” he teased, finally making her smile.

He might’ve been miles away, but it felt as if he was right there beside her, the only thing different was that they couldn’t touch.

Paige stared at the calendar, nine months to go..

She could get through this.

Day Twenty Four- Cast Christmas- Paige and Rudy

Christmases with the Outer Banks cast were always wild, there was never a dull moment.

For some people, that can get overwhelming, and by some people I mean Paige, the loud music, the chatter that had all blended together in one loud humming noise, not to mention the smell of alcohol had her on edge.

So Rudy was with Paige outside, the two of them huddled together to keep warm as the party blared from inside.

“ you’re sure you don’t mind being out here..?” Paige asked, looking up at him, “ there’s no where else I’d rather be” Rudy promised, kissing the top of her head.

He couldn’t be mad, he knew she got overstimulated easily and he should’ve been paying more attention instead of doing shots with Chase, he hadn’t noticed her on the brink of a panic attack until it was almost too late.

But luckily Prim and Madelyn were there to comfort her, making sure she was okay until he could get to her, he’d lost count of how many times he’d thanked them tonight.

Paige nodded and messed with the Polaroid camera in her hands, a gift from Prim, knowing how much she loved taking pictures of her and Rudy’s different travels.

“ hey Ru..? Do you wanna..?” She asked, holding up the camera, “ of course I do” He said with a smile.

Paige grinned as she got an idea, leaning up on her tip toes and placing three kisses on Rudy’s cheek, a soft laugh escaping her lips at the red lipstick stains on his cheek.

She held out the camera, smiling and posing with him as she snapped the picture, watching as it printed out and she grabbed it, shaking it until the image was visible.

“ perfect..” They whispered at the same time, both sharing a laugh before Rudy pulled her into a kiss, snapping another picture.

Day Twenty Two- Christmas tree farm- Paige and Rudy + Chase and Prim

Don’t ask how the four of them ended up here, they wanted to do something fun and somehow ended up at a Christmas tree farm.

Now this wouldn’t have been an issue if Paige wasn’t allergic, her nose turning pink from how often she’d been sneezing.

But, she insisted she was fine, she wanted to be apart of this, she’d be damned if she sat in the car while the three of them made memories without her.

“ Pay..” Rudy said, pulling her closer to him, “ ‘m fine..” Paige said with a sniffle, “ you’re not fine” Prim said in disapproval.

Paige frowned and leaned further into Rudy, “ we’re just worried about you kid” Chase reassured, “ I’ll take some Benadryl- guys I wanna be apart of this!” Paige said.

Rudy sighed and went through her purse, handing her one with her hot chocolate, checking her over once more to make sure she was okay.

After that it was smooth, Paige giggling as she looked at the trees, obviously high off her ass from the Benadryl.

Eventually they all had found the perfect tree, a medium sized one- which was obviously going home with Chase and Prim.

The day might’ve started as a disaster but at least it ended well.

Day Sixteen- Decorating- Paige and Rudy

Decorating was always Paige’s favorite part of the Christmas season, putting up all the different lights, decorating the tree, baking cookies. To her it was literal heaven.

Rudy loved watching Paige as she flitted about the studio flat, putting up decoration after decoration, a cheerful smile painted on her face the entire time.

He loved seeing her happy, she always had so much stress and anxiety that it was a relief to see her smile and listen to her laughter.

But there was one small problem, Paige was tiny, unable to reach the higher places, a pout etched onto her lips as she tried everything, tiptoes, jumping up high, even trying a small chair. She was just far too short to reach.

“ Ru..” Paige called out, staring at the top of the tree with a frown, “ awww can my baby not fit?” He teased, laughing as she swatted at his arm.

“ not funny.. but yes” She murmured, burying her face in his chest, he chuckled and rubbed the back of her head, “I’ll help you” He promised and kissed her temple.

He gently picked her up, helping her onto his shoulders and holding onto her thighs before carefully handing her the star.

It was a game of trust, she knew he wouldn’t drop her so she relaxed, gripping his shoulder as he moved closer to the tree.

Paige stretched her arm up, carefully placing the star on the tree and smiling as she adjusted it, Rudy giving her thigh an encouraging squeeze.

He helped her down, holding her in his arms and smirked, looking above them.

“ huh.. mistletoe..” He said with a grin and she laughed quietly, leaning up and pressing her lips against his.

It was the perfect night.

Day Fourteen- Dancing in the snow- Paige and Rudy

Paige and Rudy’s very first Christmas together was a disaster, between her grief and struggling to deal with family the whole thing turned into a mess.

But, there was one moment that the two of them fondly remember, one that made that Christmas not so terrible after all.

It was date night for the two of them, he’d taken her to Olive Garden, her favorite restaurant.

It was snowing that night, Paige watching every snowflake in awe as she leaned further into Rudy’s embrace.

It was the first time they had felt peace in weeks, they definitely deserved that bottle of moscato.

Later that night as they walked down the street, admiring different Christmas lights, an idea struck him.

“ hey Paige?” He asked and she looked up at him, “ yea?” She asked and he held out his hand with a grin, “can I have this dance?” He asked.

Paige didn’t hesitate to put her hand in his, laughing as Rudy pulled her onto the sidewalk, beginning to slow dance with her as the snow fell down around him.

“I know this Christmas hasn’t been ideal.. but I just want to know I’m here..” he murmured, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.

She smiled softly and laid her head against his chest as they danced, “that’s all I need Ru.. just me and you..” she said quietly.

People on the street had stopped to stare, but neither one of them noticed, too caught up in each other to care.

He cupped her face in his hands, bringing her up into a slow and passionate kiss, the chill in the air making them shiver.

This Christmas may have been a disaster..

But at least they had each other.

Lover- Chapter Three

Rudy made his way over to Paige, grabbing her hand and leading her back into her trailer.

She sat down, watching as he paced around, clearly thinking about what he wanted to say.

“ he said basically the same as what he told you.. but I made it clear it would go against my contract. I’m not doing it” Rudy sat and knelt in front of her, “Ru..” Paige said quietly, her hazel eyes gazing into his blue ones.

He shushed her and kissed her hand, “I’m only doing this with you.. no one else okay? We had that chemistry test for a reason.” He said and she nodded, pulling him into a hug.

She was thankful that he understood where she was coming from and willing to defend her, he was right. JJ and Ruby were made for a reason, nothing could come between that.

Paige curled up on Rudy’s lap, absentmindedly kissing his shoulder as he read over his lines, the two sitting in a comfortable silence.

Sometimes she wondered how he could put up with her, she knew her emotions were constantly all over the place and he deserved someone who wouldn’t doubt his love.

Paige hated when she’d doubt him, she didn’t want to but seeing so many edits of how him and Madison look at each other made her feel insecure.

But Rudy never yelled, he’d just talk to her about it until her mind eventually cleared of those thoughts, but the guilt she felt never went away.

She should’ve expected it, she had an extremely attractive boyfriend, strangers had heart eyes for him and people were bound to ship whoever they wanted.

Seeing those edits were a slap in the face, especially when fans would send them to her, Rudy was practically shipped with everyone except for her, the one he was actually dating in real life and on the show.

A sigh escaped her lips as she continued to read her script, her mind thinking of a thousand different scenarios, making a headache form between her eyes.

There comes a time when everyone has to make a decision, a very important one that could either make or break you.

Paige and Rudy paused at the same time, doing a double take of the script, her breath catching in her throat as her hands began to shake.

“What the fuck…?” Rudy mumbled, reading over the lines once more, “Ru..” Paige whispered, her voice cracking.

Sometimes the decision isn’t so easy to make, sometimes it feels like a punch right to the gut.

How could someone make a decision to walk away from it all? To walk away from the very thing that had brought you so much love and happiness in your life?

Paige stared at the script, taking a shaky breath, this decision would either break or make her.

She had to decide if Ruby lives or dies..

Day Twelve- The best present- Paige and Rudy

Paige and Rudy were love at first sight, from the very first moment they met, nothing could separate them.

They had been through it all together, sadness, pain, grief, anger, love.. through good and bad their love had never faltered.

Rudy knew the holidays were always tough for Paige, she never really had a loving family, and the one person who actually cared enough had passed away.

So one night he decided to call her mother, gathering every special thing about her aunt and putting it all together.

Paige had no clue what he was doing, too busy getting a present for him, so it all worked out in Rudy’s favor.

He watched as she curled up under a blanket on the couch, watching whatever Christmas movie was on and sipping her hot chocolate, adding extra whipped cream anytime it got too low.

He sat beside her and pulled her onto his lap, smiling as she cuddled closer to him.

“ Pay..?” He asked, “ yea Ru..?” She said and looked up at him, “do you want an early gift?” He asked with a smile, chuckling as she nodded eagerly.

He handed her a small box, watching as she carefully unwrapped the present and opened the lid, gently taking out the snow globe.

Tears filled her eyes as she saw a photo of her and her aunt in the middle, shaking it once and letting a few tears slip as it was sparkly snow in the shape of Snoopy.

Paige carefully wound up the music box part, her fingers carefully touching the glass as her aunt’s favorite song came out in an instrumental melody.

“ do you like it..?” Rudy asked, a bit concerned, “ oh Ru I love it..!” She sobbed, throwing her arms around him.

He gently wiped the tears off her cheeks and pulled her into a sweet and gentle kiss, cradling her face in his hands.

This truly was the best gift.
