OOC: To everyone with whom I've started talking about a thread...

//...or thought about it at least. Sorry for disappearing for a while! University got the better of me and I'm still struggling in the tight grips of assignments, homework and essays. In addition, I think all my muses took a self-proclaimed vacation for a few days.

Anyways! I still very much want to start a thread with all of you and will be jumping back to your askboxes in a few days time (tomorrow or Wednesday, hopefully!) when the current rush of deadlines has passed.

The night is a deep one, and as his companion sleeps the dark hours away, Fenris keeps idle watch over their camp. As with all of his kin, he feels the stars rather than sees them; he turns his gaze from Man to sky, and as the distant lights tumble above them, he knows that he is not as alone as he thinks.

the vagabond

He is a fool, is the first thing that he thinks, the day that he stumbles over a man half-lynched and hanging by his underwear from a tree.

I am surprised he has lived this long, he adds several days later, watching him trying to talk his way out from between three men each at least a head taller than him.

…I think I can trust him, he realises, the day that Pherran’s blade intercepts a knife meant for him.

foggy beginnings

They attempt to set off in the midst of the thickest fog that Fenris can remember for some decades. “Fear not - my impeccable sense of direction is bested only by my sense of balance!” Pherran declares, not even a full a second before he vanishes face-first into a ditch. Fenris’s eyes shine in wicked satisfaction, and he does not help him back out.

How long had she been here? Held captive in a place she didn't recognize with only the company of the man who had put her in this very situation. Her hands were bound tightly together behind her back, leaving her feeling uncomfortable and weak. Viktoria didn't recognize the man who had captured her, didn't understand his possible reasoning for keeping her here but none of that mattered. She was in this situation and there was nothing she could do about it.

The night slowly began to blanket the land around them in it's darkness as the stars in the sky began to shine their light down on her. The chill of the air began to sweep of her skin and she found herself wishing that she could warm herself up. Viktoria could hear the soft crunch of the ground beneath his footsteps as he walked up behind her.

He raises a hand and, placing an elbow on the armchair, brushes his lips with his fingertips for a brief moment, before letting the hand fall on his thighs. A deep wrinkle appears on his forehead, intense yet not menacing —his body is relaxed. Crossing his legs, he narrows his eyes, lips parted, and stares at nothing relevant, which might be a wall, the floor, or even the empty space. Fingers start to brush against each other, as if he wanted to feel the texture of the skin or to mimic any other sensation under his fingers — the lines of a drawing, charcoal in his grip, or even a hammer. Slight changes of expression, an arched brow, a titling of his neck, are the heralds of different flows of thoughs, shining in his pupils focused in the distance. And when he finds the end of the thread of his imagination and reasonings, he almost startles.
