In truth, Erestor had no idea where he was. After he was caught at sea, his makeshift tank was covered - and stayed covered until they reached their destination. It was some.. show? Festival? The mer couldn’t tell much more from his new, slightly larger tank; the water muffled most noise, and he seemed to be under a tent of sorts. There were other various creatures around, but from what Erestor could tell he was the only merfolk.
All the mer knew was that many human creatures seemed to be coming up to his tank to ogle at him, pointing eagerly at his shining blue tail and gills. Erestor tried to ignore most of them - but the occasional rowdy child would come up and bang on the glass to get his attention, which made the mer hiss and bang on the glass with his tail. It was enough to make the offending children back off.
The day was growing late, and the mer was eventually curled in a corner of the tank. It’d been a while since anyone had stopped by his tank; it was dark, and there were very few people left. When one last person strayed by his tank, getting their look in, Erestor pointedly gave the man a harsh glare, his fins flaring in irritation.
