I regret last night.

A soft chuckle escaped from between Viktoria's lips as she shook her head. "Perhaps I should have stopped you from drinking so much. Or maybe I should have told you how strong that wine really was." She placed her hand carefully on her friend's shoulders. "I can go grab a healer if you'd like, although I'm not certain how much help it would be. Normally you just sleep it off."

Falon flinched. “…An actual princess? What are you doing out here?”

She looked about, as though the answer to her next question would materialize on the ground, in the trees, or on a cloud. “…And I’m supposed to bow to you types, too, right? Is that really necessary?”

The shocked tone in the woman's voice left an odd feeling in the pit of Viktoria's stomach. She drew in a deep breath and forced a smile. "I am not your Princess, so -- it's not a law. I suppose it's not 'necessary'."

Darling; the way it rolled off of his tongue in the softest whisper still sent giddy flutters throughout her body but even his loving voice and caring eyes couldn't stop her from feeling this way. Viktoria's hands reached out for his, carefully grabbing hold and giving them a tight squeeze before getting up to her feet and turning away. "I lost you once." The memory still fresh in her mind felt as though the wound was being reopened. "I can't do it again, I won't." The sobs became heavier as she turned back around to look at her husband in the eyes.

The tears coming from her eyes were not ones that she had anticipated but this woman had saved her life and all she had received in return was a death sentence for a crime she didn't commit. It was hard to see the woman in this state, weak and shackled to the walls of the dungeon that belonged to her father. "This is my fault." She uttered, attempting to make the words that spewed out in between sobs sound more confident. "You are here because of me and I fear that there is nothing I can do to save you." Viktoria took a step towards Hawke as she drew in a deep breath but stopped short. "I am so sorry."

It was an odd sensation, the feeling of his fingers brushing away the tears as they fell quietly from her face. The concern in his eyes matched the tone in his voice which could only be described as fatherly. Viktoria was overwhelmed with sadness; it tugged at her heart so hard that she felt as if it were being ripped into two. "It is all my fault." The words slipped off of her tongue almost silently as the tears continued to pour down her face. "I should have been there with him. He didn't deserve to die like this; in my name."

What had come over her? Why had she ever thought it was okay to share this side of her with a complete stranger? Her hands clenched together into tightly bound fists in her lap as her eyes dropped to the ground from being focused on the woman's face. Inside she carried a heavy burden, one that she was certain no one could truly understand. I fear for my kingdom. I fear for my life. The Princess thought silently to herself as she drew in a short breath. "It was nothing, just a fleeting bout of stress. I'm fine now."

Viktoria hated being in this state, especially around someone who allowed her to be vulnerable without trying to take advantage of her saddened state. Her head hung low, hoping that it would mask the tears that streamed down her face. Sparrow’s hands brushed them away softly, a kindness that Viktoria had never know even as a child. It isn’t always like this. She wanted to lie as her eyes lifted upwards to look at the woman’s face. "I will never be good enough," The words came out in a muffled whisper as she choked back the tears that were still threatening to fall. "My father will never be proud of me. I will always disappoint him."
