My thing about sad endings is if it's a romantic drama then they better both be dead, and then I'm completely okay with it, in some cases I might actually prefer it, especially if they died in each others arms vowing their love to each other with their last breaths, then I'm just thinking they're together in some sort of afterlife. Spoilers obviously but this is why I love the endings for the smile has left your eyes and I'm sorry I love you. And then there are those dramas that you think this can't possibly end well and 10 minutes before the end the male lead is telling the FL with his dying breath how he'll meet his dead family in heaven and tell them there was a woman who loved him more than he loved himself and then you get a glorious happy ending and you're like.... hmmm, this might be better but honestly it depends.

The Family Tree of Early Joseon Dynasty based on Korean Sageuk drama Tree With Deep Roots 뿌리깊은 나무 (2011 SBS), The Princess' Man 공주의 남자 (2011 KBS), and Queen for Seven Days 7일의 왕비 (2017 KBS). 

Six Flying Dragons (2015 SBS) : The story of King Taejong (Yi Bang-Won) who founded Joseon with his father King Taejo (Yi Seong-Gye). 

Tree With Deep Roots (2011 SBS) : King Sejong the Great (Yi Do)'s creation of Hangul (Korean alphabets).

The Princess' Man (2011 KBS) : King Sejo's usurpation of throne from his nephew King Danjong. His daughter (Princess Yi Se-ryung in the drama) doesn't exist in the official history, but her love story is based on a famous Korean folktale. 

Queen for Seven Days (2017 KBS) : King Yeonsan's dethronement. The love story in this drama is a fiction.
