Gustaf Tenggren (1896-1970), 'Rosette', ''The Red Fairy Book'' by Andrew Lang, 1924
Hello fellow readers! Tonight, we are back with another story from the Countess of Segur's Old French Fairytales storybook! We'll be reading what is probably the simplest of the tales, the story of Princess Rosette, which I believe is my favorite of the five. I hope you'll join me and you can enjoy watching me struggle to read the long descriptions of Rosette's magic dresses !

Parent's Story: Princess Rosette
Powerful Qualities: Independent, thoughtful, resourceful
Roommate: Sandra Castle
Secret Heart’s Desire: I’ve spent most of my life in a tower, so I would love to love to see more of the world.
My “Magic” Touch: Like many other princesses, I can command birds and other animals to help me. It’s how I communicate with my pet, Atticus.
Storybook Romance Status: Though there are plenty of handsome princes and heroes at Ever After High. I’m sure one of them is my Prince Charming.
“Oh Curses!” Moment: My mind tends to wander from time to time. You have to be creative with your time living in one place for so long.
Favorite Subject: Arts and Crafts. Being in a tower, I have gotten creative with how I can reuse materials.
Least Favorite Subject: Drama. I deal with enough of it in my life.
Best Friends Forever After: Sandra Castle and Holly O’Hair. These girls truly understand what it means to be locked in a tower.
Pet: My loyal dog Atticus. He always follows me around and brings me whatever I need. I also help Daring Charming take care of his pet peacock, P-Hawk.
Now that our visual novel Chronotopia: Second Skin has been released, we’re starting an event called ✨Fairytale Friday✨. Every Friday, we’ll discuss a tale from the game’s archives! 😃
Today it’s Princess Rosette again?! Yes, the tale by the Countess of Ségur this time.
Here the princess is also called Rosette but she’s completely different 👸.
She’s a good girl who’s been living in a farm all her life because her parents actually don’t like her 👩🌾. Why?
Because she has a fairy godmother unlike her elder sisters 🧚♀️.
It’s only when she’s 15 that she’s finally invited to see her family for the 1st time but only if she stays discreet because the festivities are supposed to be about her sisters again 🎉.
But the poor girl is apparently too beautiful and too nice so they hate her even more 🤦♀️.
After the royal family tries to kill Rosette for that sin, the fairy orchestrates her wedding with prince Charming and keeps her in the dark as to what actually happened, including what she did to them to made them pay.
Do you wanna know their fate? 😬
The king and the queen are turned into beasts of burden, then given to cruel masters. The 2 sisters are disfigured and maried to brutal ostlers who constantly beat them up 🙍♀️. They're forced to stay like that basically forever too 😱.
Scary... Fairies don't mess around 😨.

`What!' said the Princess, `do they dare to kill that beautiful creature and eat it? I declare that I will never marry any one but the King of the Peacocks, and when I am Queen I will take very good care that nobody eats any of my subjects.'
