April week 3 of the Grimoire Challenge 2019

I don't do a lot with elements anymore but I thought I'd share with you my trip to Castell Henllys, a replica fort built on the site one was excavated.

The first image is a bench with the word "GWRANDEWCH" on it, meaning listen. Sit hear and get in touch with the element of air.

Next is the adobe buildings. Get really connected to the earth. You're surrounded by it in these dark dwellings, get your bare feet on that mud floor.

Check out that big hay dude. He's ready to be burned at Beltane, the festival of fire. Dance, you're surrounded by darkness and flame and heat and people.

Here, sit by the river. Stick your toes in the cold water and let it rush over and around you. Listen to that sound. It's so constant and turbulent at the same time.

This is some actual bull. Yeah sure I have a gp now, but before I moved here there wasn't a single gp (still isn't) in Goodwick, and Fishguard surgery was overstretched. This nearly resulted in my mum's death. She got abdominal pain while gardening and put it down to a pulled muscle. Over the next two weeks the pain didn't go away. She just started to feel iller and iller, including her temperature getting uncontrollable, her mood becoming erratic, her colour draining away. She went to the gp (like a good little girl; like she was told) - fever, some pain? A nurse sent her home with some paracetamol. She was alone that night because my dad, my little brother, and I were all working night shifts. My other brother visited, for no reason, just for the sake of it. She was lying in bed, barely responsive, and he dragged her to hospital - she didn't want to go because she didn't want to waste NHS money or time. A doctor saw her, sent her straight for scans. She had an abscess so large they couldn't see where it originated from until they looked inside. She'd been walking around with a burst appendix, not wasting people in A&E's time. They said that if my brother had visited the next morning, not that evening, he would have discovered her dead fucking body. I'm going to reblog this on my other blogs. This is the victim blaming side of the NHS crisis. Fuck right the fucking fuck off.

Ok so

I cast a protection spell and the candle caught fire (not in the way it's supposed to) and things got instantly worse. FMfrickenL

The remains of one of a burial mound in the Welsh countryside, near Newport, this is Pentre Ifan. This is speculated to have been the doorway to a large structure. Many come here for the sabbats. I visited because of Hen Galan, not really a Celtic holiday which some people seem to think it is but still an excuse to connect with your roots. In the background, also, is Angel Mountain.

So what kind of content is the witchblr community a little in need of? Keep thinking I should post something but most stuff is already out there.

Witch tip

If you are casting a spell using candles and the candle keeps going out it may be the wrong spell, at the wrong time, in the wrong place, done for the wrong reason. Evaluate your spell, or your environment, or maybe do a bit of divination to see what's going on and continue or discontinue in the appropriate way. It may just be that it's windy or wet or it may be that you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Things to put under your pillow

Even sleep can be magical. Here’s a list of things to put under your pillow for magical sleep:

Amethyst to ward off nightmares

Rose Quartz to tackle headaches

Labradorite/nuumite to boost any spells

Snowy quartz for when you’re revising/studying for exams

Lavender for good sleep

Rosemary also for when you’re studying/revising for exams

Yarrow for dreaming of your true love

Bay for protection

Don’t forget me spell jar

I just found this jar spell in my drafts. I must have written it when I found out I was moving house! It’s a don’t forget me jar, to help you keep long distance friendships alive. :-)

What you’ll need: A pink and a yellow candle - if you don’t have both, it’s OK to just use one. If you don’t have either you could use a white candle. A jar and something you can write on it with (if you don’t have anything that will write on it, try a sticky label or even paper and some tape) Dried Rosemary, dried catnip, dried dandelion A picture or representation of you (maybe just a nickname written on a small yellow or pink piece of paper) Some chips of clear quartz, so the memory is clear, or you could substitute with Snowy quarts. If you prefer, you could choose chips of gemstones related to memory or communication.

Light the pink and yellow candles Draw a representation of the person or write a name, or a sigil if you want to keep it secret, on the jar. Fill the jar with the herbs, the crystals, and the representation of you. Close the jar and seal with the wax from the candles. Store the jar near your altar, near your bed, near where you charge your phone, or near your laptop. Charge it in sunlight whenever you think it needs a boost.

When you’re done with the jar, break the seal and take out the contents. Most of the contents are biodegradable so bury them somewhere nice. If you intend to use the jar and the gems again then cleanse and charge them. If you don’t, bury the gems and recycling the glass after cleaning them. Most glass paints will come off the glass with very hot water (be careful not to make it so hot the glass breaks) or nail polish remover.
