"I wish we had more time together." (For Susan from Caspian)
The deepest fathoms of REGRET colors her eyes just seconds before they drop. Her quavering hand collapses about his sturdier one, almost with a sense of DESPERATION. The ache echoed in her heart, branches out, spiderwebbing until SORROW spread through ALL of her veins.
There are a trillion "if onlys" she desired to speak life to and yet, the Gentle's tongue seemed GLUED tot he roof of her mouth. She DOESN'T want to be EXPELLED forever, for no crime of her own. Surely ASLAN was making a MISTAKE.
Swallowing back an urge to let her eyes FLOOD with tears, a sheepish glance inches upwards. Her other hand gingerly moves to ENCOMPASS his warm cheek. "I will love you until every one of the stars burn out of existence." She confesses, keeping her voice powdery soft. "But -- it would have never worked between us. With me being thirteen-hundred years older." And yet, it does NOT keep her heart from YEARNING for him.
Though he had returned her ivory horn days ago, she moves to press it back into his palm. The palm of the hand she had been grasping earlier. "You may still have need of this." She chokes out. Her words conveyed stronger than they FELT. She wants to say, 'you might NEED to call me again' but she KNOWS beyond a shadow of a DOUBT that she can NEVER answer that summons again.
