Printer question—have you ever printed anything on lined paper? Especially smaller sized paper like A5 or A6?
If yes, do you have any advice? Trying to approach this with the conscientiousness and care of a (good) brain surgeon
Ohh I see I'm the printer witch now. I shall carry these duties with responsibility.
I've never actually printed on lined paper, so if anyone has better advice please add it! But here's my suggestions.
1. Look it up! See if anyone has created a template for printing on the brand of paper you're working with. Unlikely, but totally possible—I often use printable labels which have their own website with a template, you might be able to find a brand of lined paper designed with the same in mind! If you ask on the right reddit board, a kind stranger might be able to point you in the right direction.
2. Print test! Print test! Line it up, and print ONE test print!!! Measure how far off it is. Adjust. Print test again! Measure again! Adjust again! Repeat as many times as is necessary to achieve your desired level of perfection. Save that template.
3. Make sure paper is aligned in your printer correctly. My printer has a tray with little grippers which keep paper steady no matter the size, but if yours doesn't have this you'll have to align it by hand. However you align it for your first print test, you're going to want to keep it like that forever or adjust your print templates.
4. Accept imperfection. Still, without a lazer guide, a machine isn't able to align things perfectly every time. It'll still look pretty sick though, hell yeah.
