Repost @deadfeminists 🌻 We’re joining with printmakers round the world and @printmakingasresistance this week. These are “unofficial” members of the Dead Feminists broadsides series: small letterpress keepsakes done in the style and spirit of the series. We created this pair of sister-prints during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Each mini-broadside was printed from metal type handset by Jessica, and a linocut illustration hand-carved and hand-painted with watercolor by Chandler. Choose from one of two print designs, or purchase both together as a set: • Chief Wilma Mankiller’s quote is accompanied by a pair of Cherokee roses; Mankiller was the first woman elected to serve as Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. • Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell’s quote is adorned with two English roses; Blackwell, a British physician, was the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States. We created this edition in response to the horrifying news that the pandemic has had a devastating and disproportionate effect on the physical and economic health of Indigenous communities—particularly the Dine’ (Navajo) nation in the Southwest. To help contribute to the fight against the coronavirus by and within tribal nations, we are donating half of the proceeds of this print to the National Indian Health Board @nihb1 #printmakersagainstracism #wilmamankiller #elizabethblackwell #deadfeminists #linocut #letterpress https://www.instagram.com/p/CDQWsSjBqdz/?igshid=qjj4xhbuhlho
