The best thing to do is check the author's profile if you're worried about that, I'd say. It doesn't sit right with me personally to avoid all fics tagged with trans headcanons in case someone is acting in bad faith. (Unless it's gratuitous misery, lmao. Trans misery porn is gross.)
See, therein lies the rub: the vast majority of trans/trans hc fic i come across are either
misery porn (maybe these get happy endings but someone has to wade through 50 chapters of a character’s life being absolutely tortuous)
a feature for smut
a feature for smut/an excuse for mpreg
So like…I’m not too excited about needing to subject myself to a laborious weeding process over thousands of fics just to find a few good ones
