Happy Storyteller Saturday! Do any good things happen in Bad Things Happen?

aaaa I have no idea when this was sent but I opened my inbox and found it so I'm answering it now

the answer: yes. good things happen in Bad Things Happen. Gabriel reevaluates and changes a relationship that wasn't good for him. Prisha finds friends who see her as capable and important. Jesús learns he is able to feel more than the daily dissociative numbness he's spent his whole life living through. they go out for coffee. they sing songs in the car as they road trip through apocalyptic North America. Gabriel and his mom forgive each other for the harm that their father manipulated them into inflicting. Gabriel and Jesús find comfort in each other and blossom into an almost-maybe-relationship. Prisha learns to say she misses her mom. Gabriel learns it's okay that he doesn't know if he believes in God.

none of it is enough to really SAVE them, to fix the world, but Bad Things Happen is very much a "the love was there" story. they all learn more about what's important to them, what's GOOD for them, as everything is falling apart around them, because that's what they have left. they learn to carve happiness out of the world when it tells them to go fuck themselves. and I think that's nice :)
