could you explain some of the species in prismscape?
Of course! Here is a simple crash course on each species.
There are six species in prismscape, Aviator, insectoid, fauna, torrid, fishfolk and undefined. If a person is a mix between two they are called a holo.
Aviators are usually smaller, more lightweight and live in top of the trees. Their wings can have a mix between bird, bat and sugar glider. They are known for their near pitch black eyes which helps their night vision and wings on their heads that is used for display and sheltering their eyes from the sun.
Insectoids are usually the smallest species and live in trees or under tree roots. They have retractable stingers in their arms, thin membrane wings and outer skeleton plating. They also have spider like feet that is soft and make little sound. They are also one of the most colourful.
Fauna are the largest species covered in fur and have quills at the base of their tail. They live in small houses in large caves or shallow burrows. They usually have horns but it isn’t a necessary trait if they have fangs or extended quills. Both genders have pouches to carry young around and they have coloured eye whites.
Torrids (my personal favourite) live in rocky terrains or deep underground closer to the earths core in rabbit like burrows. Their skin is more rough with less fur and their claws are like flints to create sparks and small flames. They need to sunbathe if they live closer to the surface and have six feelers on their faces to sense vibrations underground to see. Their main defence is their tails with spikes to whip around behind them as they dig.
Fishfolk live in riverbeds or lakes staying most of the time in the water. They don’t have pupils and have gills on both their necks and ribs. They can grow pearls from their bodies usual places are around their necks and wrists for display reasons. They have no obvious ears being replaced with fins. They also have webbed fingers and toes.
Undefined are the most elusive species usually found just roaming around or in the open as they are less likely to be hurt by watchers. They can show off an abundance of different traits usually subcategorised into void, reptile, undead and host. The one feature that seems consistent in the liquid pouches that appear on their bodies seemingly mimicking watchers pouches.
Finally holo’s, they live usually with one of their parental groups a mix between two species they usually don’t make it to adulthood as they are born with either physical or mental health issues. Some species when trying will never have a child without risking the “mother” of the coupling or just losing the child early on. These are aviators/insectoids, fauna/undefined and fishfolk/torrids.
