Even though the Russian mobster starts out by living up to the reputation that precedes him, soon, a not entirely fear-based tension forms between them. A/N: I really feel like I’m challenging myself with this series 🙃 I’m excited to write it though! I think I will be able to improve my writing skills and create something you guys will hopefully enjoy 😁 also! While there are going to be a lot of famous historical and mythological characters in this series, I am not sticking 100% to factual backstories from history or stories that they come from. So when that all comes in please don’t be in my asks saying “but that never happened to *insert famous figure*!!” It’s just going to be lightly based on them if that makes sense... 💜

Chapter One

Red Brick Prison, so named for the crimson bricks standing at least five stories high lining the perimeter of the city.  Guards holding large guns paced the top of the wall day and night.  There were sensors and alarms that would go off if any prisoner even set foot within 10 feet of the wall, there was no possible chance of escape.  It was the largest men’s prison still standing in the what was once the continent of Asia, somewhere in the middle of South Korea most citizens had guessed, but the location was unknown to the public. Only those were employed by Red Brick and the highest level of officials of the government knew its location.

The idea of the prison was much different than former prisons before the world had fallen into ruin.  

This prison was more a town than a prison.  It was still monitored by guards and the prisoners were under some rules and regulations.  They shared small houses with other prisoners and for the most part had created their own society.  The guards did random checks and patrolled neighborhoods to make sure that things were running smoothly but besides that they were left to their own free will.  It had started over 150 years ago as an experiment ‘Lets see what happens if we create a city of only criminals’ Some psychologist had helped fund and observe the whole thing.  After many years of revising and tweaking the way it ran, it had become the new normal for prisons.  Now there was only about 4 prisons left in the world, as there wasn’t quite much of humanity left itself.  Red Brick was famous for holding the worst of the worst criminals. (And eventually, for one of the most entertaining televised battle royals the world had ever seen.)

If you commited a crime worthy of being sent there you’re chances of ever seeing the rest of the world again were slim to none.

The only exception being the odd occurrence that had mysteriously started happening around 100 years ago.  Seven members of the prison woke up one morning to find a strange symbol was now tattooed to one of their hands.  After a few days of wondering if they had one drink too many, (as alcohol and cigarettes were allowed in Red Brick, never any drugs though, despite many protests of the prisoners saying ‘what's the difference!’) the prisoners with the red marks found strange visitors had materialized in their homes.  The strangers called themselves heroic spirits, and called the marked prisoners their masters.  

Chaos ensued when these prisoners realized the grand power that these spirits contained, most looked human but their powers were anything but.  Supernatural abilities that couldn’t be compared to anything that had ever been witnessed by humanity.

It became one of the bloodiest prison riots in history.  The only thing that managed to stop them was that the warden himself had somehow received his own mark and had his own spirit materialize.  It seemed to be an unfair balance of power in favor of the prisoners, 7 to 1, but the warden’s spirit was the most powerful of them all.  Striking down the rest of the prisoner’s servants in one night.  

After all of this strangeness they tried to go back to normal, only for it to happen again 8 years later, and again after another 8 years.  The prisoners never won but they always tried to kill the warden and escape, many guards were killed in the crossfire.  Realizing this would be a pattern the Warden -now growing old and ready to retire- decided he’d make a game of it and try and prevent the possibility that the prisoners would ever be successful in using these servants against the authority over them.

Seven prisoners were always chosen at random by a unknown force outside of anyone's power.   So it was decided those seven would fight each other in a no rules fight to the death battle. They allowed the chosen masters to pick a team to assist them and their servant, anywhere from 4 to 10 players were allowed to be in a team. It helped with prison population control, and kept the prisoners focused on fighting each other rather than the guards and the warden.  As an incentive as long as no guards were killed, the winning team was allowed to walk out the front gate free with all crimes erased from their record.  

After many of these wars that had come to have the nickname the Escape War, one of the wardens had realized how much fun it was for him to sit back with his servant and observe the blood bath safe in his tower high up in the center of the town.  He figured maybe others would love to observe from the comfort of their own homes, money signs flashing in his eyes he decided to bring in a camera crew and televise the event.  It was more of a success than anyone had expected ‘The Escape War’ was a hit.  Citizens would pay for a subscription for a season pass to observe the carnage and ferocity that ensued every eight years.  Bets would get made on who would win and who would lose first.  

Yoongi thought that was the sickest part of the whole thing. Not only were the chosen seven thrown into a deadly battle with no choice but to participate, but some sicko with bags of money was betting on who would die. What if one of the masters chosen wouldn’t have rebelled, what if they were fine with just living the most normal life they were capable of here in Red Brick.

He liked to think that's what he would’ve done if given a choice.

He groaned rolling over in his small prison issued twin bed rubbing at the red symbol that he had noticed on his hand just a few moments ago after waking up.

They didn’t leave the cell that night, not using any of the free time they had been given to go outside or roam the area. Dean didn’t really see why he should leave the cell at all other than to acquire food, it was just safer to stay there.

Around seven an alpha Dean had recognized from sitting with them at the table came over and began to talk to Castiel in Russian.The alpha was on his way to his own cell and Castiel gave him a couple of orders in their native tongue. The follower nodded with nervous eyes. Dean assumed it was about Alistair but he didn’t ask. He didn’t want to know.

He barely slept through the night, eyes wide open and burning as he thought about the people he had met earlier that day, and they mess that he had gotten himself into. He was now, in more ways than one, attached to the Russian crime syndicate. More than one high-ranking alpha was interested in him, and he was the focus of everyone’s attention.

Above all, his face hurt like a bitch. He had been pushed around in his life, but he had never had someone bash his head into a wall before. And he never wanted it to happen again. Though with the way things were looking he wasn’t too sure he had a choice in the matter.

“Why aren’t you asleep, pup?” The alpha’s rough voice startled him.

He sighed, maneuvering himself onto his stomach, leaning down over the bed to look at Castiel, “Why aren’t you asleep?” It wasn’t like it was the alpha’s first day, he should be used to sleeping in the cell by now.

“Because you keep squirming around up there,” the alpha complained.

Dean rolled his eyes, “Liar. What’s your mind? What’s got the big bad Russian alpha up at night?”

The alpha let out an exasperated sigh, “You are very obnoxious, you know that?” Dean smiled because yes, he did know. Sammy and his father had told him frequently. “I was just thinking about your earlier interaction. I’m furious.”

“Don’t like people touching what’s yours, alpha?” Dean said, knowing full well that he was testing some boundaries by teasing Castiel.

“You know, I may have a lot more control than the other alphas in this joint, but I do recall telling you not to test me.”

Dean laughed, about to say something when he heard a loud, angry shout from the cell next to him, “Would you guys either fuck or shut the fuck up?! ” Dean pulled away from the edge and laid back down on his bed, glad that it was too dark for the alpha to see him blushing.

“Like I said, puppy, if you want to be my omega it can be arranged,” the alpha said smoothly. Dean could hear him pulling the covers back over his body.

“Shut up,” Dean said quickly. “I ain’t your bitch.” He tried to ignore the pet name Castiel had given him. He didn’t understand why the alpha called him that, but it was clear he wasn’t going to stop anytime soon.

“Go to bed, Dean,” Castiel said. “You’re going to wake up sore.”

He was right, his face and body felt like shit and the morning wasn’t going to be fun either. For now, he tried to fall asleep. Not because the alpha said so, though. He didn’t follow orders from anyone but his father.

In the morning Castiel urged him down to the showers. He followed the alpha hesitantly, this was the part he was most nervous about. Being naked and vulnerable around a bunch of naked, horny alphas wasn’t a good time for him. Castiel assured him, a look of seriousness in his face, that no one would be fucking with him.

There was a line to wait for the showers, they stripped and grabbed towels as they waited. Castiel quietly pointed out other members of gangs: who to look out for, who was friends. The alpha made him shower first, watching to make sure no one touched or even so much as looked at Dean.

Dean noticed an alpha approaching him with a smile, “I heard about Alistair, was that you? Because kudos, brother.”

Castiel frowned at him, his eyes flicking from the alpha in front of him to the omega in the shower, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

The alpha - Benny - started to walk away with a grin, “I’m just sayin’ is all. You’re good, Krushnic. Very good.”

Dean heard every word, wondering what the hell happened to Alistair between dinner yesterday and now. He turned the water off and stepped out of the shower, the alpha following behind him. Dean dried off in the corner as Castiel showered quickly, returning by his side in record time.

He was wondering if the alpha was starting to get a bit possessive of him.

Dean tried not to look down but he couldn’t help but glance. The alpha’s cock was huge , Dean bit his lip and looked up. He wouldn’t let himself react.

Dean didn’t have time to think about it before he felt the temperature of his body heating up. Beads of sweat were forming at his forehead, and his breathing became erratic.

Castiel’s nostrils flared at the scent of slick. He grabbed the omega and threw him in the corner in defense against the alphas gravitating towards him.

“Cas…” In any other situation Castiel would have teased the omega for using the nickname.

The omega whined at him.

“Cas?”

“Dean, put your pants on,” the alpha demanded, shoving an identical pair of orange pants as the ones he was wearing into the omega’s hand. Dean whined at the feeling of the fabric, too stiff and scratchy against his skin. “Dean, I understand they don’t feel that great but I need you to put your pants on now.”

Castiel used his alpha voice, Dean whimpered and immediately stepped into the uncomfortable pants. The alpha had him in the corner still. He faced the omega, watching as he put his clothes on, “Good boy.”

Dean didn’t feel like a good boy. Cas was mad. There was anger seeping into his scent and it was making squirm. He was yelling and Dean couldn’t pay enough attention to understand why, everything was so distant.

“Alex, Alfie, Dominic,” he shouted

The alphas were front and center in less than a second, nodding at their boss because they already knew what to do. Their eyes reddened at the smell of heat, but none of them made any advances on the omega.

Others were advancing, though. Every alpha in the room started him down like he was gonna be their next meal.

Dean wouldn’t let go of the alpha’s arm or move even a fraction of an inch away from him, “W-what the fuck. What…”

“You’re in heat, puppy,” the alpha told him. He gave Castiel an incredulous look but didn’t let go.

“N-no, I’m not. They injected me with suppressants yesterday, it’s supposed to last a month,” he tried to argue. He couldn’t go into heat on his second day, he wouldn’t. Castiel shook his head at the omega as he guided him through the room. The three alphas followed by their side and behind, shooting a deadly glare and holding up a fist to anyone who dared come near.

“True mates don’t play by the rules, pup,” Castiel said. True mates? Is that what was happening?

When they made it out of the bathroom, Alfie got ahold of a guard, who laughed in his face, “This facilities got the best suppressants money can buy, ain’t no omega going into heat here.”

“Uh,” the guard said stupidly. “Shit, okay follow me.”

They followed the guard through the hallway and into the warden’s room, who was shocked to say the least. “I know,” Dean said, leaning back into his mate’s grip.

Dean’s heat lasted five days. The guards brought them food and water, coming in sporadically to check on them. The beta cursed as he left, leaving the food and water bottles just inside the door with a frown on his face.

Castiel expected a cell change from the warden because of the fact that they were now mates. They didn’t have any rules on it, considering it had never happened at the prison before, but he that didn’t mean they wouldn’t break them up.

When they came back, though, after having to douse themselves in scent blockers to get rid of the smell of mates, they were placed back into the cell together. Nobody really said anything, except for a few smirks here and there. Castiel felt more confident about keeping Dean safe now that he was his mate. Surely, no one was stupid enough to fuck with his mate.

“Hey, Sonny?” Nick had asked. They ended up sneaking away to relax and cuddle each other.

“How will you feel 20 years from now?” Nick thought about the question as he asked. Sonny as lifted his head off Nick’s chest to watch him.

“I’ll be a free man. Hopefully living in a nice apartment with you… a kid or two.” Sonny chuckled at the kids part. Nick smiled as he kissed Sonny deeply.

“I’d like that. A nice little family with you.” Nick told the boy. Nick smiled and leaned down to kiss Sonny once again before he heard his radio.

“Amaro, we need you for a prisoner transfer. Where the hell are you?” Nick heard the guy on his radio. He sighed before pushing in the button.

“I’ll be there in a moment. Damn. Calm the fuck down.” Nick responded before looking at Sonny.

“I’ll see you in a bit, okay?” Nick said as he kissed Sonny deeply.
