Jail officials are accused of seizing personal hygiene products and locking detainees in their cells nearly round-the-clock, permitting only one 15-minute shower every three days. Power and heat were cut, and some inmates sliced open their mattresses to keep warm as temperatures outside dipped below freezing, the suit alleges. Most of the affected people were pretrial detainees.

A notorious Pennsylvania prison was exposed for rampant abuses of detainees over the belief that they were smoking weed.

You know what kills me about the anti-trans/terf cult? They sling around that BS study that says that around 50% of trans women in prisons in the US, the EU, and Canada were convicted of violent sexual offenses. You know how many trans women are in any given prison? 100, 200 at the most. You're telling me that I should want the extermination of millions of trans people all over the world because 50-99 of them committed a crime? Sounds like Naziism to me!

It's pretty difficult to find definitive statistics on prison SA for any gender, so on the one hand I just think those "studies" are probably lying.

From what I could find, the SA statistics were kinda high, even for cis women. So I think the real story here is "prisons are an environment where SA is prevalent" which reflects poorly on the carceral state, not on a specific demographic

But also, to your original point, yes. It's wildly absurd to call for the genocide of an entire group people, just because a mere handful of them have committed serious crimes.

If that were a reasonable response, white, christian men would be in serious trouble.

but with the blueprint.

but the idea of who belongs behind them.

A society that builds cages

before schools,

cells before shelter,

has already answered the question:

Who is disposable?

The prison does not merely hold bodies.

It reinforces a story—

written by power,

edited by fear,

published in policy.

It tells us:

that poverty is pathology,

that Black means danger,

that Woman is deceit,

and that Trans is suicide.

We are told this is security.

We are told this is justice.

But:

What myth sustains this structure?

What fear needs it to remain?

It is not incidental

that the poor are criminalized.

Not accidental

that Black and brown people are stopped, frisked, sentenced

in numbers that defy reason.

Systems do not malfunction this way.

They perform—

exactly

as the blueprint intended.

And so, it is shamefully complicit to pretend

that racial enslavement is illegal in the United States.

Slavery is legal—

if you are incarcerated.

I ask you to remember the blueprint,

one last time.

find silence louder than their cries.

Trans lives

are placed in danger by default.

Those persecuted before

return to the cage, cyclically—

exposing the façade of rehabilitation.

This is a system that reproduces harm

more efficiently than it prevents it,

and it is not broken.

It is sacred to those in power.

And sacred things,

we are told,

must not be questioned.

But we must question.

And when the answers rot in the light,

we do not settle for mere reform.

We stipulate: total abolition.
