I'm still thinking about the modern au (or prisoner!Bruno au) and how the Madrigals would react when he finally gets released. I've been wanting to write a fic about this for the longest time but idk how wanted or relevant it might be, haha.

I'd imagine it would be Agustín and Félix who would come pick him up from prison, bc, let's be real, no one would be safe with Pepa in the car, especially not before such an emotional moment. Not to mention Pepa would blame herself for what she did in my one-shot where she visits Bruno for the last time.

It's Félix who drives Bruno back home, while Agustín watches over him from the backseat, trying his best to make some lighthearted conversation. But it all turns awkward very quickly since Félix and Agustín can't just brush over what the years of confinement have done to Bruno. They can't just gloss over his drained face, wan gaze and his old clothes that have been out of style for over ten years.

On the other side there's Bruno, whose pulse is rising to his throat as he feels two sets of eyes on him, otherwise so used to being written off as unimportant. He can't get over the looks of thinly-disguised concern on their faces, because how would that connect to his family abandoning him?

He knows he messed up. He knows his family did the right thing when they stopped visiting him.

He knows he deserved it.

So, why is he going back home?

Don't they realize how much of a danger he is to everyone? How much of a burden?

He can't do this to his loved ones.

Bully: "You won't get away from me this time, chameleon boy. Now you're gonna pay!"

*Camilo is held down and gasping for air but still can't help but grin nastily*

Camilo: "My uncle served ten years in prison, ya know? And he wouldn't mind going back for beating your ass!"

*The bully shifts uneasily and yelps in fear when he hears a honk from the school gate*

*There's a scrawny man getting off a flowery tandem bike and holding up a box of homemade lunch, waving at Camilo*

Bruno: "Hey, kid! Hop on!" :D

Camilo, to the bully: "Nevermind."

More encanto prison AU thoughts! I imagine Mirabel visiting Bruno often and giving him fun things to do before actually getting him out. I know someone who gave a relative little craft kits in prison and he would make them and give them back to him (of course that irl relative wasn’t framed but that’s irrelevant lol). It’d be cute if Mirabel did something similar waaaah I’m emo.

Okay, let's just assume Bruno has earned himself some privileges over the years by being a (mostly) harmless bean in prison and is allowed to play board games or something when Mira visits. He def always shares the good vibes with his friends after Mira leaves! Just an uncle gushing over one of his adorable nieces... 🥹😪

Who dresses up as what in the Modern AU

Bring the spooky vibes!!

Mirabel dresses up as a witch, simply because I think she would look adorable with a pointy hat. She also has the perfect hair for it and, not to forget, ripped a broom right out of Bruno's hands in the movie (and has probably also done so in the Modern AU when Bruno said he "wanted to make himself useful and clean the house" after his release).

Isabela picks a skeleton body suit, I think, and Luisa a bee or ladybug costume.

Camilo dresses up as a zombie but he insists he's just trying to imitate Bruno's post-prison looks (eggs are thrown at his head after that). A jaguar costume would fit Antonio very well while Julieta turns into a "scary" nurse. Agustín chooses a clown costume and actually manages to make it look funny.

Pepa knows she looks hot in a pirate outfit and bullies Félix into being her sidekick parrot. Dolores and Alma play it lowkey, becoming a ghost and a vampire respectively.

Bruno is forced to wear a cow onesie. (Yes, this is a nod to Milk Day and his "cow eyes".)

I designed some more prisoners... although they might be people Bruno doesn't get along with. 😂

But this is Jethro! The super tall guy who's also Bruno's cellmate. (@thecrazyashley-blog I hope I didn't just destroy the image you had of him---)

IDK Bruno just hangs out with these guys...
