⌛️ Bruno Madrigal x Reader headcanons Rats in the walls 🐀

For you, visits to Madrigal's house were commonplace. You went there when your hometown was just being built, back when you were a kid. You went there to spend time with Pepa, Julieta and Bruno. Especially with Bruno. He was your best friend, and then when you got older, he became the person you were in love with. You didn't understand why everyone shifted the blame, it would seem, for almost everything, to Bruno, as if he attracted failures. You spent a lot of time with him and knew that this was not the case, otherwise a lot of bad things would have happened in your life too. Bruno took such things to heart, and when he left, for a moment it seemed to you that this was to be expected, although the unpleasant feeling that he left without telling you anything did not go away

You continued to come to his family, you helped them with the housework, helped them with the children, but their house began to seem empty to you without Bruno. You weren't allowed to visit his room, but you didn't want to go there yourself. Even Bruno himself didn't really like going there because of the huge stairs he had to climb. However, there were those in the house who always came to you when you were there. Rats. The little animals came to you because you fed them, which you probably shouldn't have done, but they reminded you of Bruno. You were sure he would have liked them. Every time they got a treat from you, they ran away, and you were curious where. It was because of your curiosity that you decided to go after the rats to find out where they are constantly hiding

You expected anything, but definitely not that rats live in the walls of the house. Even less did you expect to see a hole in the wall that even you could easily fit through. This hole couldn't have appeared on its own, so you decided to find out where it leads. You were sure that nothing in this house could harm you, so you climbed into the hole without fear, slowly and carefully moving forward through the strange passages. It seemed to you that you had found some huge secret that no one knew except you and the rats. At some point, it seemed to you that you were not alone. No matter how many times you look around, you don't see anyone. Perhaps it was precisely because you were walking through strange corridors alone, and because of this it began to seem to you that you were not alone, but when you clearly began to hear someone's footsteps, you began to become really scared. Maybe it was someone from the family, for example Camilo, but that didn't mean that anyone should have known that you were wandering these corridors

In the depths of the corridor you found a room in which obviously someone lived except for the rats, of which there were many. The more you looked around the room, the more you realized that you knew who the owner of this room was. When you saw the painted plate, you were only convinced that it really was Bruno's room. He was in the house the whole time and the realization made your heart sink. All this time he was there, very close, and no one even knew about it. You felt your heart constrict with pain, but when you heard the footsteps again, you were sure that you were not imagining it. When you turned around, you saw Bruno standing in the doorway, looking at you with a sad look. You two haven't seen each other face to face for too long

You had a lot to talk about. Over the years, you've had, it would seem, a million questions that you wanted to ask Bruno. But for now, questions and conversations could wait. All you did was walk up to him and hug him tightly. You had to make sure that this was not a dream or a figment of your imagination. You missed him for too long and you didn't know how you would stay calm if it turned out that it was just a dream and in fact only rats lived in the walls. Only the feeling of Bruno's arms hugging you back helped you finally make sure that you were awake and that after all these years he was finally with you again

Julieta Madrigal

Ok, I was inspired by a previous post to write a character analysis of Julieta.

Ok, I could get behind this take, but only if the entire town’s health does not rest solely on her shoulders. Like if she had help and train

So, the deal with Julieta is that she’s not exactly the golden child, at least not at first. It’s more like she’s the Good Girl of the family. The one that Alma doesn’t have to worry about because she’s so mature for her age. She’s quiet, humble, and kind. The one who may have been overlooked in favor of her louder and more boisterous siblings.

She can heal people with the food she makes and the love she carries for everyone in the Encanto. So therefore, no, she’s not the golden child, she’s the Caretaker.

The extra set of hands Alma needed when things were too much for her. If Alma was feeling down or depressed, or too busy, and Julieta’s siblings were anxious or upset, Julieta would take care of it. No need to bother their mother unless it’s an emergency, right?

It’s been said she was born to be a mother and that’s because she’s been mothering her family and half the town since she was five. Those are the sort of expectations she carries around.

I think that’s what allows her to relate to her older daughters and sobrinos who fill a similar role of support within the family. She’s the healer, the caretaker.

She lends a listening ear; she tries to make you smile with food and words of affirmation; she shoulders the family’s burdens; she sees their hurt and tries her best to lighten the load.

She was probably the one Alma was eager to marry off first, because she would make such a good mom and matriarch to the family, kind of like Isabela. So good for the Encanto.

But instead of marrying the perfect guy, like Isa planned to, she married the perfect guy for her, Agustin.

I also think she blames herself for Bruno leaving. He was obviously hurting and she feels she failed him because she couldn’t fix it.

That’s why she parents Mirabel the way she does. She sees a lot of her brother in her daughter and that’s why she tells Mirabel not lose her way in this family the same way her brother did.

She always tries to reassure her daughter that she is perfect, that she’s enough, just the way she is. She doesn’t have to try so hard. She showers them all, with unconditional love and affection. (Something Alma wasn’t very good at doing that much growing up.)

And as great as those things are it wasn’t always what her kids needed. She’s a caretaker, but she’s also very passive. Unlike her siblings, she’s the “unproblematic” one. “Señorita Perfecta” in that she avoids making waves and causing conflict. She tries to be a good daughter, and not give her mother a hard time. That’s what I think she has someone like Agustin for. A husband who stands by her and will firmly stand up for his family, and always support them, no matter what. And that’s exactly what he does. So yeah, I think she’s an amazing mom, and a great role model with her own flaws and problems just like everyone else.

Angst potential Bruno headcanon:

Him having hyperthymesia (or HSAM: highly superior autobiographical memory)

Basically remembering everything that has ever happend to him vividly since childhood. In detail. And the dates as well.

Because

1 It would be cool: he sees the future and it would fit very well whit his gift

2 angst: he would still remember EVERYTHING the village did to him in detail

3 It would be funny: imagine people arguing whit him and bringing things up distorted, and he corrects them whit exactly what happend and the time it happend, or someone tries saying "when I ever did that?" Then he brings up all occasions whit date and detail

Okay, ahaha, I didn’t have time to do something great, but I can show you my little stupid old doodle which I finished today when I rested after uni.

My friend and i talked about Encanto once and came up with the idea that maybe when Jorge and Hernando can’t help, Juliet is in the village as always and Bruno too scared to do something, someone has to cook.
