Literally what is the point of tagging my private posts as such (or making them at all) if I can’t search for the tag and have all of them come up. It’s not like it’s realistic to scroll through my entire profile to find them.

To access your private posts: On the web, choose the blog from the account menu (the human icon) at the top right of the screen, then scroll through your dashboard until you find the post.

ok ...guess I will never find anything marked private again.

All this bad UX I keep bumping up against is reminding me why I left this site. Tumblr COULD be a great replacement for all the sites that are currently falling apart but so much is so broken.
