A day spent in Echo Park, Los Angeles with my beautiful and talented friend Maya Zohbi inspired me to create the first project for this blog entitled Prized Possessions. The gnome pictured in this precious shot, Stephano, embodies my prized possession(s). This little guy represents my undying love for gnomes in general. I really am not entirely sure how, why, or at what point in time I came to adore gnomes, but for some reason I just can’t get enough of them. Some are mischievous, some are shy, and some are just plain cute. Regardless of their various personalities, I truly appreciate each and every type of gnome. Over the years, I have collected various gnome-related items, such as buttons, t-shirts, and perhaps the greatest gift of all — an intricate drawing of a gnome on my Nalgene by one of my favorite campers. Each of these objects means so much to me and has a wonderful story behind it. Thus, after exploring Echo Park with Stephano and Maya, I realized that everyone surely must have an object that they cherish and a splendid story to go along with it. So I decided to start taking photos of the amazing friends I have made at college with their prized possessions. An interview, transcribed by my co-blogger and one of my dearest friends, Beja Wolf, accompanies each entry. I hope you all enjoy this project as much as I enjoyed taking photos of and learning more about these lovely people!
