This blog loves and supports Blackwall
I find it really ironic how people will decry Blackwall as this terrible person and criminal, only to turn around and simp for Anders or Solas. Like, his crimes are bad, yes, but they’re small potatoes compared to the crap some other companions have pulled.
“He murdered an entire family including the children!” So did Sten in the first game.
“He lies to his men about the job, and runs away and lies about who he is!” If Anders kills the mage girl in Act 2, he plans to go to her funeral and lie to her parents about who killed her to suit his political motives.
Anders is a terrorist who blew up a chantry specifically to start a war. Solas literally enabled one attempt at the apocalypse and plans to start another. But yes, tell me more about how Blackwall is such a monster.
Anders: a schizophrenic terrorist who acts emotionally abusive to Hawke if you romance him, bullies Merrill, totally down with selling an escaped slave back to their master
Solas: a genocidal, xenophobic, arrogant psychopath with a god complex, dumps your ass if you romance him, enabled one attempt at the apocalypse with plans to cause another
And these are two of the most beloved male romance options in Dragon Age????? How does that make any sense??????? Especially when you’ve got people like-
Alistair: literal personification of sunshiny dorkiness, absolute sweetheart and beefcake, heart of gold, swoon inducing
Varric: actual best guy, sarcastic little shit, charming rogue with a heart of gold, secretly a worry-wart for his friends’ safety, not romancable, but really should’ve been
Cullen: an ongoing redemption arc that’s actually great when you think for more than two seconds, blushing awkwardness the moment you start flirting, trying to do better than he did before, gorgeous face and bod, voice kink, actually holding himself accountable for his past actions
Blackwall: a redemption arc that’s done before you even meet him, long-suffering paragon, a silver fox, a good man who doesn’t realize it, an example of redemption and forgiveness, crude humor that’s actually funny
Like seriously, WTF????
