Excuse me while I just get this out of my system.
This is surreal. Like something out of a dystopian novel. There's a deadly virus ravaging the planet and instead of coming together and fighting it, we are arguing over whether or not it is even real, and whining about how inconvenient it is to not let people die. Now a bunch of very smart people have worked extremely hard and finally found an inoculation that they have done their best to ensure is safe and effective, and we respond by spreading propaganda about microchips and well we don't really know what it's gonna do crap despite the obvious evidence that we DO know what the virus can do.
Like, if there was a zombie apocalypse and there was an actual fucking zombie trying to break your window and I was saying don't worry about it that's just government propaganda.
"I don't like the government telling me what to do." Do people have any idea how insulting that is to someone who lost a loved one to this disease? Okay, look dipshits - I just watched an actual zombie kill someone and you're talking about constitutional rights. You do not have a right to be bitten by the undead and turned into a flesh eating monster. Why do I have to explain this to you? How this this even in question?
Someone I love just died. They were healthy. They were not vaccinated. It was entirely preventable. This is not a fucking novel. It is real, it is permanent, and it's awful.
Don't be a zombie sympathizer. Fight it. Your weapons are your mask, your vaccine, and just as important your words. But I don't mean ranting online (like I'm doing), I mean talking to people you personally know. Tell them you care about them and you want them to be safe. Tell them that even if they don't think they are personally high risk, they are still responsible for protecting the vulnerable around them. You don't "wait and see" if you should put a child in a car seat, what are you waiting for now?
And when they say they don't want to worry about it, and they want things to go back to normal, tell them you want that too. But if they think acting like things are normal now will fix it, they're sitting in a burning house saying "this is fine". Let's stop fighting each other and focus on fighting this disease.
