"listen to your body"
my body: go get a cinnamon roll the size of a tire
yeah and? got get a cinnamon roll then. the person in the comments saying you probably need carbs is right. our bodies DO know what we need and if you're craving something there's always a reason
I was writing a whole thing in the tags but I definitely can articulate it better in a reblog: the reason why most people think they're bad at dieting because they crave cookies or whatever... is that going without a thing you crave is bad for you. if you're craving chocolate, go get some chocolate; there's minerals and sugars in there and they're good for you! even if it's a small portion it'll probably satiate the craving; if you're worried about eating too much of a thing, just put a fixed amount somewhere and the rest away (e.g. keep chocolate in the fridge, get a couple squares of it and put it on a napkin, then put the chocolate in the fridge again, then eat the squares).
literally "eating healthy" is about balance and balance is also about eating things that are "bad" for you. no food is really bad for your health unless in really large quantities. once you start adjusting to "listening to your body" and understanding what kind of portioning feels right for you (granted, it takes some trial and error) you'll probably start *actually* having a balanced diet. if you force yourself to eat salad you'll hate eating salad. if you eat that donut you "shouldn't be eating" for breakfast then you'll probably start wanting that salad for lunch. it's literally just a matter of habit

it's so hard to enjoy a movie when it's showing you some fat character and makes it clear that you're supposed to find them funny/pathetic just because they're fat
by the way. it never is too late to decide you want to be happy. the woman who helped me get hormones didnt start hers until she was 70, and i met her at 73, beautiful and smiling - and told me that the last three years of her life had been her favorite. your favorites might be ahead of you too. why not hang around and find out?
as a regular donor to Gaza Soup Kitchen I get their email updates, and they said today that while they've continued to be able to expand, donations are slowing down as Gaza gets less coverage. If you have a few dollars to spare, I encourage you to send them here to continue the amazing work that Hani and his team are doing.
i feel so defensive and protective of people with ARFID like if i had a disorder that made my brain register 90% of food as poison for no reason and i had a bazillion people on the internet constantly calling me a manchild who needs to just grow up and stop being a picky eater i would start killing people
people with ARFID and people with very few autism safe foods and people with contamination OCD and people in ED recovery and everyone else with a complicated relationship with food that no one takes seriously GET BEHIND ME!!!!!!!
I will make a beautiful life for myself no matter how long it takes. I will I will I will
jkr is literally posting upskirt photos to her social media. when will it finally get through to harry potter fans that their support makes her feel confident and correct enough to do things like this
If the holocaust denialism SOMEHOW wasn't enough for you to shut up about your favourite kids book as an adult; JK Rowling just committed a sex crime IRL against a transgender woman.
When do we start to care.
I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished
my trans identity is something i cherish greatly & in all my years as an out trans person experiencing & witnessing transphobic abuse & bigotry towards myself & others like me i have not once felt an inkling of shame about who i am in that regard. that being said the Men's Rights Activists But Trans This Time crowd on this website is making it very hard for it to stay that way
Bro absolutely COOKED with this.
If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.
It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.
It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.
This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.
You should be able to say ādonāt touch meā to anyone ever in any context and not have it be considered in the realm of surprising or insulting imho if we ever needed to normalize something itās this
UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
I really can and will blame the 9-5 for everything. "We're in a loneliness epidemic" well, we have to spend a third of our day interacting with people in a professional way that makes forming real friendships difficult and then we're peopled out by the time we're done. "People are eating more and more unhealthily" people have to spend more than a third of their day doing work related tasks and they don't want to spend their tiny amount of free time making food. "People aren't involved in their local communities" after spending more than a third of their day doing work related things people are tired and also all those community events take place during normal working hours. "People need to get more hobbies" after spending more than a third of their day working, people are TIRED and don't want to do anything that takes yet more energy. "Literacy is dying" to maintain your critical thinking skills you need to read/watch things that make you think and after spending more than a third of your day doing work related stuff you are TIRED and don't want to expend even more brainnpower. "People need to get outside more" People. Are. TIRED. Because they have to spend all of their time working or preparing for work or recovering from work or doing all the chores they couldn't stay on top of because of work. I can blame fucking anything on having to work, it is truly the root of all fucking evil.
Hey OP, love your scalding take here; don't forget about commutes.
Once you factor in commute times (which even for short distances can be grotesquely inflated due to the fact that so many people are all commuting at the same time, but that's a different conversation) many people are actually devoting upwards of 10-12 hours a day on "work related tasks."
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO RUBY AND SAPPHIRE!!!!!
