how the JWCC/JWCT characters would get vaccinated
Darius:
his mum is a healthcare worker and his parents are very pro science so ofc he is fully vaccinated
he’s also not afraid of needles
honestly looks forward to them a bit
his mum gets him and Brand cute, colourful plasters (band aids) for where the needle was injected (mostly cos they’re cute but on occasion he’d come across a situation where there weren’t any plasters for dark skin)
Darius puts the ‘I got vaccinated!’ stickers on the inside of his flippable phone case. he’s very proud of them
Brooklynn:
fully vaccinated plus probably a few extras from her adventures being a vlogger (she definitely got at least one obscure disease on her travels)
used to be scared of the needles, and her dads had to hold and comfort her while she was getting vaccinated, but she got better as she got older
even when she’s older, her dads always take her out for ice cream when she gets vaccinated
also puts the ‘I got vaccinated!’ stickers on her phone case
Sammy:
very pro vax. anti vaxxers will get an earful from her about protecting vulnerable people and keeping everyone safe and the scientific evidence behind them is well backed, etcetera
vaccines were never a big deal for her, since her pain tolerance is very high and she has excellent immunity
takes cute selfies with her ‘I got vaccinated’ sticker
Yaz:
would get vaccinated, since it’s responsible, but she secretly hates the needles. not because of physical pain, she just really doesn’t like the experience of getting vaccinated and she cannot articulate why
her mother (and eventually Sammy) are the only ones who know, and one of them always holds her hand while she’s getting the needle injected
if Sammy’s around, she and Yaz will snuggle and watch a movie after getting vaccinated, since for Yaz it’s a fairly significant emotional ordeal
Kenji:
hates getting vaccinated as well as Yaz. he also has no clue on earth why
he’s also scared of the needles themselves
also he’s the type of person who gets ill from the vaccine side effects. his arm aches and he’s sick with a mini version of flu/covid/whatever he got vaccinated for (me core)
and his dad would always tell him to shut up if he was crying from pain, anxiety, illness or discomfort about the vaccine
actually it makes loads of sense that he would hate getting vaccinated when you say it like that
mama Bowman offers to go with him on his first vaccination post nublar and he very reluctantly lets him hold her hand. she’s right there with him throughout the whole thing, and promise to go with him to get vaccinated whenever he needs
he gets a colourful plaster that he secretly thinks is very cool
he is also very proud of his vaccination sticker and wears it on his clothes until it falls off (he is very sad when it peels off)
Ben:
vaccines are a breeze for him. he goes in extremely chill, needle in, needle out, he’s done
“one measly little needle is nothing when you’ve defeated Tor—” *one of the camp fam smack him gently on the knee*
very enthusiastic about vaccines. fully vaccinated. heck, he would look forward to getting them as a kid!
pokes the bruise on his arm just to test his toughness
Roxie:
model vaccine patient. she sits very sensibly and gets the needle in
prides herself on never even getting a sore arm
got pretty sick from vaccines once. she hated it so much. Dave would not stop teasing her about it
“so how’s that invincible immune system working out for you?” “shut up and get me cough medicine. please”
Dave:
tries to be brave about it but is really scared/nervous of needles. the doctor lines up the needle and he flinches away in a panic
Roxie has to hold his hand and distract him
he has to get some kind of sweet treat afterwards because that is an Ordeal for him
his body handles it fine
Mae:
also a model vaccine patient
would poke around the nurse’s equipment for a bit and pay very close attention to how everything works. hehe nerd
tests out and stretches her arm afterwards because she doesn’t like not being able to use one of her arms since she uses them so much for work
Ronnie:
very calm about it. needle in needle out she’s done
gets a bit achy in her arm; ignores it when she’s in the dpw because she needs to work, but once she quits the dpw she’s more gentle on herself
Soyona:
very very calm about it
sits eerily still in the chair
vaccines for the flu or covid often give her headaches and muscle aches
but if she has any side effects she will not let it show (until she is home to her wife Lilly aka the Handler who will then lovingly take care of her)
Handler:
does not let needles go anywhere near her. she’d sic her raptors on the nurse the moment the needle gets uncapped. she would bite
her idea of building immunity is eating raw meat and living with no exposure to any other humans (except Soyona her WIFE)
if she absolutely had to, all four raptors are sitting in the room with her, growling menacingly at the nurse
