What really sold me on the Snupin ship was the fact that working class half blood Snape was overshadowed by and to some extent at the mercy of Avery and Mulciber just as half blood werewolf Lupin was overshadowed by and to some extent at the mercy of James and Sirius. After Sirius died, they were each other’s last connection to their days at Hogwarts and in a canon divergent AU they could help each other.

I always loved their similarities. They’re both loners who wanted to be accepted by rich purebloods, they both love the Dark Arts, they both taught DADA, they were both poor (maybe Remus is middle-class or a bit below idk), they’re both dark characters, they’re both aggressive (Severus is verbally aggressive, and Remus is surprisingly physically aggressive), they both went through a lot of tough shit, they both suffered with loss, they both had shabby clothes (Sev as a kid, Remus as an adult), they’re both half-bloods.

Both wanted to be accepted. Remus had James and Sirius, and Severus had Avery and Mulciber. Both didn’t object when their “friends” did shitty things (Mulciber for whatever he did to Mary, and Remus for everything James and Sirius did).

I love them both so damn much! And I absolutely love Snupin.❤️

I feel like the last two books have some pretty shippy Snupin moments. Remus sticks up for Snape to Harry, doesn’t hold it against him that he got him fired, and says he neither likes nor dislikes him, which makes it almost sound like he secretly loves him. And Snape seems to hate Lupin but takes a significant risk to save him, which leads to him accidentally cutting off George’s ear. And they’re both spies and ex Dada professors touched by the dark and hiding dark secrets.

I know!! Prisoner of Azkaban, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows’ Snupin moments make me want to S C R E A M!

Remus sticks up for Snape to Harry,

Yep. That always made me smile. Like ok, Remus knew he was in the wrong about the PoA situation, but he defended Sevy 😭❤️

That part always gave me a nice happy feeling inside! That’s probably the best that can be expected after all the history and bitterness of the past.

Usually, when I say/act like I don’t like nor dislike some people. It’s usually cause I secretly love them and/or enjoy their company. (Maybe I’m just weird idk.😭)

And Snape seems to hate Lupin but takes a significant risk

to save him, which leads to him accidentally cutting off George’s ear.

The fact that Severus saved Remus despite the fact that he was supposed to be acting like a Death Eater there and Lord Voldemort was himself participating in the Battle!😢❤️❤️

I love that Severus accidentally cut off George’s ear because he was trying to protect Remus. To me, out of every single good act Severus ever committed in the ENTIRE Harry Potter series, this one was the best, the most meaningful, and the most beautiful. Out of all the moments of Snape's bravery, I find saving Remus from a Death Eater the most fascinating one, mainly because it not only showed Severus’s bravery, but also his selfless, self-sacrificing nature and his way of valuing human life he eventually came to acquire. It just shows what kind of person Severus really is.❤️

What compels Severus to try to save Remus’s life, risking himself, and also the entire plan that Dumbledore has created for Voldemort’s defeat is that he could easily have stood on the sidelines and done nothing, just as Remus had done so many years ago.

And there’s something about it that really interests me.

Why does Severus leave this memory to Harry in the first place?

It’s not necessary information for Harry to have, and I, personally, don’t believe it’s even meant for him. Severus has no way of knowing that, at that very moment, Remus is also facing his death in The Battle of Hogwarts.

I headcanon that Severus intended for Harry to tell Remus about this memory because he does not want to die without letting Remus know that he saved his life and didn’t hesitate to protect him.

Also, there’s a bonus moment!

In Deathly Hallows (in chapter 11), Remus asks Harry and Co about Sev and refers to him by his first name, even when he believed that Severus was a traitor and a Death Eater:

They ran down the stairs towards him. Wrapped in a thick black traveling cloak, he looked exhausted, but pleased to see them.

“No sign of Severus, then?” he asked.

“No,” said Harry. “What’s going on? Is everyone okay?’

“Yes,” said Lupin, “but we’re all being watched. There are a couple of Death Eaters in the square outside –”
