A Little Quote from Man of Steel

Now, I know that Man of Steel has gotten a lot of controversy, especially from people who grew up with the Christopher Reeve movies, but personally, I really liked it. I thought it had just the right amount of darkness and suspense to actually make me concerned. But, most importantly, it showed a wonderful relationship between an adopted child and his parents. I am, of course, referring to the scenes were Clark is with his adoptive parents, Martha and Johnathan Kent, specifically this conversation after Johnathan tells Clark about how they found him, and that he's not human:

Clark: *Clearly trying not to cry* "Can't I just keep pretending I'm your son?"

Johnathan: *Hugs Clark* "You are my son."

Those two lines made me choke up from the moment I heard them in the trailer. It just felt so natural and emotional. I always felt like it was a wonderful example of how many adoptive families might feel once the child is old enough to know they were adopted/know what being adopted means. I wouldn't be surprised if some adopted children, at least subconsciously, feel like they're playing pretend, that they aren't really their parents' child. And, like Johnathan in this scene, the parents are saddened to hear their children say anything like that. Because whether they're related by blood or not, their adoptive children are their "real" children, and nothing could change how much they love them.

Okay I just gotta say something because the 'abortion debate' has for some reason been at the forefront of my life lately, and I don't want to rant on Facebook because there are actual people there who I actually discuss current topics with and who I don't want to continuously feel compelled to respond to my pro-choice dribblings because they are busy with real life. But today I was surfin' the net, as one does, and came across some 'pro-life' Tumblrs. And if there is one thing that gets to me about 'pro-life' lingo, it's that they constantly refer to abortion as any of these: holocaust/genocide/infanticide. To keep it short I'm just gonna point out, FYI, that the holocaust is completely incomparable to abortion because it was the systematic extermination of all Jewish people. It specifically refers to WWII and like, even to me, not a Jew, it is offensive to compare a huge, deliberate massacre of an entire people-group who are still dealing with further political and social repercussions of the ~actual holocaust~ to something that is NOT the holocaust!!!!! Like, it's not even close.  The holocaust was, in fact, a genocide. Again, incomparable to abortion because genocide is the aim to destroy an entire race, religious group, nation, etc.  And lastly, infanticide even in it's name dispels any connection to abortion, as it is in regard to ~infants~. Pro-choice people don't just like think all babies should die. We don't walk around hospitals with signs saying 'Don't have babies, Kill all Fetuses." I'm so mad all the time. Shit there are so many THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

beauty and the beast aside, i really have been doing some serious thinking, on a pretty serious topic. ive been thinking about whether im pro-choice or pro-life for a long time, since i dont fully agree with either side. so ive decided that *drum roll* i am pro-adoption (thumbs up for making up my own word xD) 

honestly, i would never tell someone to get an abortion. those words will never come out of my mouth. i believe that a fetus is a mini-person, blessed by god or jesus or unicorns or whoever does that blessing nonsense. 

now, before all the haters come and eat me with a side of coleslaw, i believe that a woman should have the option to get an abortion. i believe it should be her last option, the one she only takes when theres is nothing else she can do. situations such as rape, incest, and severe complications to the child and or mother are the only occasions when one should even begin to consider abortion, and even then it should be a hard decision to make. however, if one decides to have an abortion, i would never judge them for it, because just because i would never abort doesn't mean that one who does or would is a bad person.

overall, i think that if one does not want the child, for whatever reason, they should give it up for adoption. i mean, doesn't it make you feel better knowing that your child will grow up in a good home where the family is financially stable (yes, parents are checked for such things before the child is adopted). so yeah, thats my opinion, and let me once again say MY OPINION. so yeah, this has been me, stating my thoughts xD HOPE YALL ENJOYED
