PSA: Why Anti-Vaxxers are stupid

I'll prove it to you.

1. "Do your research! If you search up why vaxxes are bad you'll get facts!"

Yeah, and if you do vice-versa then you'll get true facts.

2. "Read the ingredients! It's all poison!"

Read the dosage, dumbass. If you eat 100 apples you'll die. Duhh. But apples are healthy! So by your logic, apples are bad for us. Nothing is really poison, the dosage is what murders us to death.

3. "It's just to get more money! Doctors are greedy!"

Show me proof. Why would doctors not want you to live? That means no more money for them.

4. "Essential Oils though! They work 100%!"

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's healthy. The one thing we agree on is that diseases are bad. But diseases are natural! So again, by your logic, diseases are good for us. Just because it's natural does not mean it's good for us.

5. "But it has the disease in it! It'll kill you!"

It's an extremely sedated disease, meaning it will cause no harm. It's just so your immune system can recognize it.

6. "But our immune system is here for a reason!"

Yeah, doesn't mean it's 100% works. It isn't the most powerful thing in the universe cause it's natural.

7. "People survived without vaccines for thousands of years!"

Yeah, but they always had some sort of medicine to help them. And I'm PRETTY SURE that the population has increased after vaccines.

8. "But I did my research! All the websites say that it's unhealthy!"

Google isn't a medical college. Not everything on there is true. Plus, they aren't even doctors, nor people who have had a medical degree, most of the time. Any person with some sort of PhD in medicine can tell you vaccines are good.

9. "But they cause autism and they vaxx-damage our kids!"

Again, unreliable sources. There is ABSOLUTELY NO FACTUAL EVIDENCE that vaccines cause autism. People only thought that because of the rising rate if ASD, coincidences and such. Vaxx-damage does not exist. Just coincidences and the works.

10. "But my child is way more healthy than the vaxxed children!"

Ahhhh the icing on the cake. This is the easiest one to explain, actually. Either your r/vaxxhappened-ing us, the other kid may have a condition making them more prone to diseases, or your kid is in a better, less disease ridden part of town.

And this is why I think Anti-Vaxxers are extremely stupid. But, I actually hate them. Why?

Because they are a threat to their children, other people's children, they try to indoctrinate the youths and elders, and their kids may choose not to vaccinate their kids, and indoctrinate more kids and parents, and that may actually threaten the next generation.

This has been a Public Service Announcement on why Anti-Vaxxers are stupid and why you shouldn't become one, avoid them, or stop being one.

I had this idea. Captain America would have grown up at a time when kids weren’t being vaccinated for diseases like they are now. One thing he probably would have noticed on waking up the modern world would be how kids didn’t get sick like they did when he was younger. Polio and Measles vaccines weren’t created until the 50′s and 60′s. Little Steve Rogers probably knew a plenty of kids who got the measles, or someone who was stuck in an iron lung for most of their lives because they got Polio. He would probably think it was amazing that those vaccines exist now. 

Imagine how he would feel when he heard about the anti-vax movement. How do you think he would react when he heard that some people were willing to risk their children dying or becoming permanently crippled because they were scared of a few chemicals?  Or that a non-lethal developmental disorder is actually scarier to them then smallpox? 

Somehow I don’t think he’d take it well...

you know, I've seen pros and cons from pro-vaxxers and anti-vaxxers, and I honestly don't know where I stand on the subject.

Apparently, my chicken pox vaccine didn't take as a child and I had to get it again a few days ago for work. Still not autistic. Will keep you updated. /S

Vaccines

There's something I think I must be missing in the vaccine debate: pro-vaxxers seem to take the position that unless everyone is vaccinated, then even those who have been vaccinated can still get the illness that they're vaccinated against. I thought the point of a vaccine was to allow your body to develop the antibodies to fight the illness off? Shouldn't that work on an individual level regardless whether everyone is vaccinated or not?

Major US news media have presented a grossly distorted and misleading interpretation of vaccines and their relationship to public health since early January. These journalistic organs have suggested the recent measles outbreak in the Western US has been a crisis of monumental proportions. This flagrant and cynical sensationalism has become a foundation for intense advocacy on behalf of the pharmaceutical corporate and regulatory cartel targeting patient informed consent—a founding principal of modern medical practice and personal freedom. Keeping in mind the close to 300 vaccine products now in the pharmaceutical industry’s pipeline, closer analysis of “measles outbreak” press coverage suggests a conscious effort by corporate news media to virtually banish such notions and practices from the public mind. A news media dependent on over $1 billion in advertising dollars from big pharma must almost by necessity indulge their clients’ broader agenda.

Vax crazy

My facebook and tumblr has been full of anti-anti-vaxers for about 24 hours. I guess the measles outbreak has been freaking people out. This is so hard for me. I am a scientist. I work at a public school. I am getting ready to have my own baby. I eat organically. I actively reduce the number of chemicals I come into contact with. I am terrified of how pro-chemical, overly medicated, and overly processed the modern lifestyle has become. My own personal well-being has been drastically improved by our 'chrunchy' changes (reduction of allergies symptoms and disappearance of mental health issues as the primary benefits). I believe that excessive chemical use will cause our generation to have significant health issues as we continue to age. It makes both sides of this argument seem valid. Personally I get sick when I am administered certain vaccines (the side-effects I have experienced from the two times I have had the flu vaccine were worse than the flu...) probably due to significant allergies with the chemicals in the shot itself. I will never get it again, and definitely not when I am pregnant. I will also not get the DTap until well after he is born but we are encouraging the adults in his life to do so. I have a fundamental belief that we have to be aware of what goes into our bodies. Accepting that manufacturers, the CDC, the FDA, or any large entities care about you as an individual is naive. Herd treatment is great for many things like immunity, but strips away the responsibility of the individual to do what is right for them and their children. That being said, I plan to vaccinate. I also plan to insanely watch symptoms the days following each shot. I plan to limit their vaccines to one shot per visit, even if it increases the number of visits. I am not vaccinating against chicken pox, or the flu, or giving the HPV vaccine to my sons or daughters. I am not giving the Hep B vaccine at birth but much later. I am not doing antibiotics in the eyes (unless I test positive for any of the infections that this is meant to prevent). And I haven't decided on Vitamin K. I am still leaning toward no, and just continuing to supplement myself so that it is available in breast milk and he gets more due to the delayed cord clamping. I try not to judge either end: doing nothing and risking other children, or the opposite end that accepts all medical knowledge on faith with no personal research. I had to come to my own opinions. If the establishment would help parents understand their options instead of 'just do it damn it, we know what is best for you', I believe that complete anti-vaccination sentiments would become far less prominent. We just need to realize that we are dealing with individuals on their own paths to do what is 'best'.
