Same Anon ;)I think it's very possible to enjoy an artist's work while hating them... however, it is also true that if you support them in any monetary way, you are also supporting their agenda. In O.S. Card's case, it's an anti-gay agenda. See link here: http://nomexposed.org/the-facts/rogues-gallery/orson-scott-card/It is also true that, as a practicing Mormon, he is obligated to donate 10% of his earnings to the church for whatever purposes THEY see fit to use that money for. If he didn't donate, he'd be 'excommunicated' from the Mormon church. Look it up, and if you disagree with his agenda, I'd recommend only getting his works from libraries and free sources that don't require you to support him in any monetary way. Same for those you know. ;)
Yes it's true they are supposed to give 10% but also if you go to most other Christian/Catholic services the majority of people put money in the collection plate. Hell I put a little money in the plate whenever I've gone and I'm not religious.
I don't want to get into a religion bashing debate but I don't support any religion. I don't think any human being has ever known what God was or is or could be. It's all someone's opinion of what God might be.
I'm disappointed that Orson Scott Card puts that much time into something so pointless as fighting Gay marriage. It's going to become legal. There's no question. I do believe it's a Civil Right and it just takes time for these things to happen. Religion should never dictate Government policy.
