hey mom wjat
do you ever think about how lestat's neediness re:sex in his relationship with louis probably at least partially stems from him knowing that magnus chose him for his body and his deeply internalized belief that he is fundamentally unlovable as a person and so he sees periods during which he and louis are not having sex as periods during which louis will realize that lestat isn't worth it. do you think lestat's little deeply fucked up brain screams at him that if louis doesn't get his regular reminder that lestat's body can give him pleasure he will get up and leave. do you think lestat notices that he is acting out and notices that their relationship grows colder and his brain screams at him that he has to prove that he is useful somehow (and the only thing worth anything about him is his body, so, get to it) and it's just this never-ending loop of lestat alienating louis and noticing it and trying to fix it and making it worse.
Agree with OP and wanna add that I don't think in s1 Lestat was fully capable of understanding everything Louis was struggling with. Louis couldn't fully adapt to being a vampire and to killing, couldn't fully adapt to not only being gay but being PERCEIVED as gay since his relationship with Lestat was mostly out in the open, couldn't (and rightly so) fully adapt to needing Lestat as a white man to gain access to places and opportunities... all of those are pretty good reasons to cloud a relationship and to fuck with your sex drive.
But Lestat was so separated from the reality of what life was like for Louis, because of his experiences but also because he can be pretty self-obsessed, that he felt it as a personal attack when Louis didn't show desire, and the more he acted out the more Louis resented him for not understanding, and then and then and then....
They were locked into a fucked-up loop, is what I'm saying
I took a deep breath and looked away from him, wishing I could say what I really wanted to say. That I loved him. But I couldn't do that. The feeling was too strong.

It's a good thing Lestat didn't show her a cheese grater.
Rockstar Lestat de Lioncourt
I love his new look from all the previews we’ve had thus far as the rockstar that he is, but I wanted to give my little take on how I imagine his stage costume would be. Somewhere between Florence and the Machine and Måneskin.
Thinking about 13 Latvias again
I genuinely belive this is the funniest fucking thing we will ever get from reddit
I need you all to know that I think about 13 Latvias so much that now every time I meet someone from Latvia I have to resist the urge to ask "which one"
In the Latviaverse this is just a normal map

An absolutely wild ride with a final twist that objectively doesn’t matter but will make you do a serious double take.
television history
i’ve been trying to explain this sketch to people for years
there is literally no way to explain this sketch it’s just a thing you have to see and even then I’m not sure why it’s so funny
“Dear Sister” is the rare SNL sketch making fun of a specific pop culture moment that transcended the thing it is a satire of. No one remembers the OC but the sketch is still wonderful regardless.
So I’m sure the lore is in the notes but here it is reconstructing from the rusty leaking trap of my memory: the Canadian show Degrassi used this music cue when the character Drake got shot. The OC used it in the exact same way the following year in an episode when Marissa shoots Trey. They also used different parts of this same song earlier in the episode at Caleb’s funeral. Actually connecting it to the the running theme of death/endings through the episode.
and SNL finally was just like enough already with the “Hide and Seek”
it’s the overlapping music cues that kill me
^^^^^ these people get it
scientific fact
absolutely hate it when the pleasurable activity procrastination hits. i’m going to do something fun that brings me joy but not yet. yeah, not yet. not yet. maybe i shouldn’t do it at all, it’s not that fun
as someone who constantly gets stuck in ruminative cycles, figuring out a way to stop the cycle before it gets out of hand has been incredibly formative for me. if you find yourself ruminating or unable to stop the cycling, here’s a place to start.
am i learning, processing, or ruminating? it’s important to be able to distinguish between the three. learning is when you receive new information that updates your frame of understanding. processing is when you study a situation to help yourself understand it. ruminating is when you cycle over the same thought repeatedly, often causing distress. learning and processing are productive, while rumination is destructive.
which theme is this? understanding the root of the spiral has helped me to untangle why the rumination feels so intense and scary. (example: i’ve been ruminating on one specific interaction with someone where i think they might’ve misinterpreted what i meant. this is my theme of fear around being misunderstood.)
how do i respond? (example: okay, this is that theme of being misunderstood. but it is not my job to make myself perfectly understood. the people i have around me can ask clarifying questions if they’re confused, and they are willing to meet me in the middle because they want to understand.)
don’t feed the raccoons tuna. (this is an example from my therapist that i love! essentially, don’t feed the beast or it will keep coming back. distract yourself, journal, listen to music, etc.)
