Daemon AU
Where Jon’s daemon is a raven or another type of corvid. because ravens are smart and aren’t as social as crows (although they sometimes collaborate for hunts).
(Tim teases him a lot about his daemon. Jon might have an irrational hatred of Edgar Allan Poe. These things may or may not be linked)
But after he becomes the Archivist, after he starts reading the Statements...His daemon’s feathers get just that bit more iridescent. Shinier.
(Maybe Martin comment’s on it before trailing off in awkward silence under Jon’s unimpressed glare. Elias definitely alludes to it with an enigmatic smile that males Jon want to punch him.)
Anyway, Jon’s daemon. Her feathers start changing. There’s a blue sheen to them that you can just about see if you catch her out of the corner of your eye. And then one day someone (maybe Georgie, maybe Melanie, maybe everyone post-coma) realise that she hasn’t suddenly improved her grooming routine or discovered conditioner or whatever. She’s started developing eyespots. Not noticeable if you see them every single day but unmistakeable. and once they’re pointed out, Jon leans forward, stares at them intently-
-and then they blink.
And then they stare back.
